A Few Thoughts
When Diaz, Hoff and Nelson show up, things get interesting at Merced. Josh Hensley is still learning things, and he'll get better. He has the best attendance, so he leads the Sport Mod points. In fact, Dwayne Short is battling Fred Ryland for second in points, and Ryland has missed a few races. Disappointing to see some guys not running for points, but this was one of the better races. Ryland still got a second, but Diaz made a nice charge from the back to win. Hoff led several laps. Short took a lead lap checkered flag this week.
Eight races, seven winners in Hobby Stocks. This time, Marc Key. He's been racing on and off for several years, but anytime you can beat the point leader, Kevin Joaquin, for a win, you did good. Kevin is the only two time winner so far. Nice seeing a couple champions, Andrew Krumm and Marshall Weaver, in the field and getting Top 5's.
Robert Alger made a nice statement by making his first start a winner. Dan McCabe was back to try for a second won, but not this time. Chris Corder added to his point lead with a third as Darren Miguel had something go away on him and ended up seventh. Kevin Lockerby had worse luck as be blew a clutch in his heat.
Nice to see five Sportsman cars in the field Eric Seale was shown as DQ'ed in the finish. Not sure why that was. I had heard that Mike Palmberg has been trying to rally more support, and he had the #10 car out there. I love these cars. Just wanna see more of them.
