Here's a quick update on the races from Merced last night. As always, I'm unofficial, just putting something out there...
Karl Rose won the 20 lap
IMCA Modified Main Event Wednesday night at
Merced Speedway. The special race was part of the annual Merced County Fair. Rose took over the lead on lap eight after early leader Ricky Thatcher had an infield excursion off the back stretch and slipped back to second. Rose had late pressure from Kyle Wilson, but he kept his cool to take his first win of the season. K. Wilson and was a close second ahead of Thatcher, John MacDougall and Robby Jeppesen.
Note: Kyle Wilson hurt the motor on his car and ended up switching cars with his brother Alex for the Main Event.
The
IMCA Sport Modifieds had a close three car battle during the final ten laps of their 20 lao Main Event. Bruce Nelson had taken the lead on a lap two restart and held it until lap 14. By then,
Rick Diaz and Jeremy Hoff were challenging him for the lead, and Diaz made his winning pass in Turn 4 on lap 14. As Diaz sped to his third win of the season, Nelson finished second ahead of Hoff, Dennis Simunovich and Keith Brown Jr.
Saturday night racing returns to
Merced Speedway on June 20th with
IMCA Modifieds, Sport Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and the Valley Sportsman division. Merced Speedway is located inside the Merced County Fairgrounds, 900 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way in Merced, Calif.
