Gene Welsh, one of the toughest competitors ever from the Sacramento area, recently passed away at 90 years.
  Stock car champion, competitor in Australia & New Zealand, former owner of Volunteer Speedway in Tennessee, parts dealer and father of Mark Welsh, another champion in Modified and Late Models;  he pretty much did it all in motorsports.
