Near 20 Pro Stocks showed in Fallon, NV Saturday for the race remembering Sabio Gonzales. We and Petaluma driver Mike Learn represented NorCal & Steve Worstell came up from SoCal.
With it being one of the Nevada Pro Stock Association's $1K to win shows and another $1,000 added to the first 3 spots in the main ($500, 300, 200) by area supporters Rob & Marcia Malson, there was good money up for grabs.  As several decades' friends of Sabio we would have been there if it didn't pay a nickel but, still, it was nice.
No hot laps on a track we hadn't been on for several years, the NPSA group running 11" tires and pretty much unlimited engines didn't play into our favor but our little, low compressioned Petaluma engine, 8" tired leafer and motivated driver did okay with 4ths in both our 9 car heat and the 18 car main.
Track was an awful dust bowl and contributed to several wrecks, most notable being main leader Mike Learn's tangle with a lapped car that got him airborne and pretty much destroyed his car. Visibility was non-existent in the main and the Nevada format of the high point guys starting at the rear with some pretty aggressive moves to get forward made it interesting.  Winner Shawn Natenstedt came from dead last.
Top 5 were Natenstedt, Travis White, Steve Worstell, Brent Lawrence the only cars on the lead lap and Jay Sears in fifth down at least 1 lap.
Got a ton of work to do to try and make next Friday at Chico, if it ever quits raining, so time to get out and at it.
