Silver Dollar Yes, Lovelock No
08/05/17 at 2:52pm

What we had planned as a double this weekend got the whammy put on us last night at Chico.  Brent was leading the SS main  when the engine took a dump with 4 to go.
Was a tough evening for the 9 cars that showed with Dan Dozier out with engine woes before the real fun began, Fritz Zanker had some contact with the right front suspension broken in the heat and band aided it enough to get a start in the main.  At least I thought so but they didn't show him taking the green. Mike Slightom's new engine built by Fritz ran well but tranny problems finished him off.  Main finish was Steve Hammett getting his first win at Chico since '08 over Phil Marino, Gary Newman, Richard Workman, Brent Lawrence and Mike Slightom.
The plan this morning was to change the seat, carburetor, gear and wheels/tires and head 200 miles to Lovelock, NV for the second night of their Pioneer Day celebration.  t's the first time since August of 2010 that the Pro Stocks have been there.  We ran the last show there and really like the little low key joint.  Oh well we got to sleep in this morning.

Correction:  Should have said Frontier Days, not Pioneer.  Pretty much the same thing but didn't want to make some nitpicker's day.  On another note, Lovelock's best known resident, O. J. Simpson, was NOT let out of  prison early to be Grand Marshal of the festivites.  Cheesy Wink

Had about 12 Pro Stocks last night at Lovelock with Travis White picking up the $1K for the win over Shawn Natenstedt in the Arro Gunn car and surprise driver Bill Pearson in the Travis Petersen 56.
Although the Pro Stocks were only scheduled for Saturday a few wanted to run Friday also so that 4 car field  had Robert Miller the winner in the B. J. Pearson 84 car.  Miller also won the Hobby car main Friday and was leading the first 36 laps of the Modified main when he got a flat tire.
We got into our engine from the Chico failure and found a piece of #8 piston broken off the top.  Only 50 laps on that engine and other than needing a sleeve & a piston haven't found any other damage but we don't have it stripped all the way down yet and haven't figured out the why either.  First time I've used that brand piston but it's a good American piece.  Guess we'll figure it out.

Another correction... 20 Pro Stocks Saturday at Lovelock.  Information sure dribbles in slowly from the desert.  Only 6 finished the main.  Still wish we'd been there.
