7th Annual Governor’s Cup at Magnolia Motor Speedway This Saturday

Columbus, Mississippi (06/01/10) – After losing last week’s program to heavy rain, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi will return to action this Saturday, June 5th with the 7th Annual Coca Cola Governor’s Cup.

Each year, the Coca Cola Governor’s Cup presents some of the best racing in the South, and it will be no different this year with a purse boasting $5,000 to win and $300 to start for the Commercial Dispatch Super Late Models. Dane Dacus claimed a thrilling win in the event in 2009 and will be back on hand to try and win the event again this year. A stout field of regional drivers is expected to be on hand to try and dethrone Dacus in the 50 lap event.

NeSmith Late Models, Street Stocks, Open Wheel Modifieds, and Mini Stocks will all be in action on the program.

An open practice session will be held on Thursday, June 3rd from 7pm to 10pm. Pit admission is $15, and grandstand admission is free.

On Saturday the pit gate opens at 3pm with the grandstand gates opening at 5pm. The driver’s meeting is slated for 6:30pm with racing action at 7:00pm. Grandstand admission is $20.00, Students ages 11-17, active military, and seniors $15.00, and Kids 10 and under Free. Pit admission is $30.00.

Free trackside parking is available in any unreserved spot.
