Nowell scored up his third and fourth straight wins at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL on Tuesday night and Saturday night driving the Clarence’s Truck Repair GRT. The “Phenix City Assassin” has his sights focused on the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region point standings, as he has now moved up to 13th-place. East Alabama Motor Speedway will open Week 16 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing East Region competition on Tuesday night, as Nowell will be gunning for his fifth straight win at EAMS. Magnolia Motor Speedway hosted a pair of NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region events with Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL topping a 27-car field on Friday night for his sixth win of the season in the Century Dedicated, Inc. Trak-Star, and Shay Knight of Ethelsville, MS outran a 33-car field on Saturday night to pick up his third win of the season in the Dunn’s Autos Mastersbilt. In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region action on Saturday night, Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL notched his first win of the season at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL driving the Wallace paint and Body Wallace. Mother Nature also played a role in Week 15 of the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season. In the East Region, Penton Raceway in Penton, AL rained out on Friday night, while New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA, and a pair of $1,000-to-win races at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL were rained out on Saturday night. The two TST races are rescheduled for this Saturday night. A pair of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Friday night shows were rained out at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR, and at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS. Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 861 points based on his best 16 finishes with three wins, 17 top five finishes, and 18 top ten finishes in 19 starts driving the Edge’s Gas Company Mastersbilt. Edge’s point total includes 100 bonus points for competing in four NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events. NeSmith Chevrolet WRS drivers can earn up to 150 bonus points by competing in six NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring event, earning 25 points per race. Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 717 points that includes 25 bonus points. The “Rocketman” has seven wins, 11 top fives and 14 top tens in 15 starts driving the Bennett Logging RMRC. Stephens still has one race to earn full points, as a driver’s best 16 finishes, plus bonus points, count towards their Regional point total. After 16 races, drivers begin netting points by replacing their lowest point night among their top 16 with a higher point night total. “Flyin’ Ryan” King of Anniston, AL is third in the East Region standings with 630 points, including 100 bonus points, based on three top fives and 10 top tens in 12 starts driving the True Bond Masonry TSR. Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is fourth with 611 points, including 50 bonus points, after three wins, 10 top fives and 11 top tens in 12 starts driving the United Bank GRT. Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL is fifth with 610 points, including 50 bonus points, based on two wins, 10 top fives and 12 top tens in 12 starts driving the Charco, Inc. TNT. Dana Eiland of Salem, AL is sixth with 585 points, including 25 bonus points. The “Master of Going Faster” has 10 top fives in 10 starts driving the Andy’s Auto Parts GRT. Craig Scott of Newnan, GA is seventh with 579 points after three wins, eight top fives and 12 top tens in 14 starts driving the Base Fuel GRT. The “Flyin’ Eye” has no bonus points. Larry Harrod of Plains, GA is tied with Scott for the seventh spot with 579 points, and “The Big Tree” has earned all of his 150 bonus points. Harrod has two wins and eight top fives in nine starts driving the Harrod Logging Scorpion. Griffin’s win on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway moved him up to the ninth spot in the East Region standings with 546 points based on one win, nine top fives and 12 top tens in 12 starts. Griffin has no bonus points. Paul Walters of Valley, AL rounds out the top ten in the East Region standings with 539 points, including 25 bonus points, after one win, four top fives and 10 top tens in 11 starts driving the Gary Davis Construction Warrior. Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS leads the Nesmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 891 points that includes 125 bonus points. “Dr. Dirt” has seven wins and 14 top five finishes in 16 starts driving the TJC Mortgage/Maximum Signs and Graphics Mastersbilt. Stokes will now begin netting points, with his two lowest point night totals being a pair of 41s. The defending and three-time Nesmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS is second with 808 points based on his best 16 finishes, including 50 bonus points. Keeton has driven the Boland Performance Trak-Star to four wins, 13 top fives and 15 top tens in 18 starts. Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS is third in the West Region standings with 764 points, including 125 bonus points, after three top fives and 12 top tens in 15 starts driving the Lawson Construction Rocket. Knight is fourth with 737 points, including 100 bonus points, based on three wins, 10 top fives and 12 top tens in 14 starts. Chad McCool of Millport, AL is fifth after collecting 651 points, including 75 bonus points in the M&M Logging Mastersbilt with one top five and six top tens in 14 starts. Jason Michau of Kilmichael, MS is sixth with 617 points, including 50 bonus points after driving the Michau Logging Warrior to two top fives and eight top tens in 14 starts. McRee is seventh with 581 points, and has earned all of his 150 bonus points. “J-Mac” has six wins, seven top fives, and eight top tens in nine starts. Cliff Williams of Star, MS is eighth with 559 points, including 100 bonus points, based on three wins and eight top fives in ten starts driving the Ware Construction Trak-Star. Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is ninth with 553 points, including 50 bonus points, after three wins, seven top fives, and eight top tens in the Medicaid Planning Specialists Trak-Star. Jamie Flannagan of Tuscumbia, AL rounds out the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 542 points based on seven top fives, and 11 top tens driving the Seven Springs Lodge Rayburn. Flannagan has no bonus points.
