Title: Vance Wilson Continues ULMA Feature Win Hot Streak Post by LMR on 07/15/10 at 1:25am Sam Stoecklin ULMA Media Relations July 14, 2010 Vance Wilson Continues ULMA Feature Win Hot Streak Since joining the association as a member driver a few weeks back, Vance Wilson has racked up four feature wins in the four ULMA-sanctioned events he has entered. The driver, known as the “Frankfurt Flash,” has claimed the four victories at Lucas Oil Speedway (2) and Callaway Raceway (2) in his Rocket chassis #B1 sponsored by Glawson Concrete GVT Motorsports, Riverport Signs, Crystal Ambrose, Finish Line Auto Sales, Heartland Auto Body, and Harness Farms. It is uncertain at press time if Wilson plans on trying to accumulate enough starts to run for the 2010 ULMA championship or not but with a 100 percent win record the odds seem to be pretty high that he will make a run for the title. Standing in his way will be 2008 champion Jason “Bodee” Bodenhamer of Centerview, Missouri who also has four wins on the year having just recently visited victory lane this past weekend at Central Missouri Speedway. Both of these drivers are currently chasing Bob Test, the overall ULMA leader in the standings heading into this week’s racing action at two of ULMA’s affiliated tracks. Down at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri last Saturday night Vance Wilson again took the rest of the drivers to task by laying claim to his second feature victory in as many nights. All total there were fifteen late models on hand for competition with 12 ULMA member drivers present. Wilson’s run to the top did not come easy as defending track champion Tommy Cordray of Browning , Missouri rallied from a deep in the field starting position to come all the way up to second spot and falling a few laps short of victory at the checkers. Harlen and Andy Kennedy, racing brothers, recorded their strongest finishes of the year by coming away third and fourth respectively. R.D. Peterson also had a strong run inside the top five to finish in the fifth spot. Danny Lorton, Zeke Langley, Chris Cox, and Dustin Walker were the other ULMA members that posted runs inside the top ten by the end of the night. ULMA competition will be taking a week off at Lucas Oil Speedway as the track is set to host a special event this weekend. The next ULMA points-earning opportunity at the track will be on Saturday, July 24. For more information be sure to visit the track’s official website at www.lucasoilspeedway.com. Current track point leader, Jason Bodenhamer scored his fourth victory at Central Missouri Speedway last Saturday evening with a solid run to the front of the field. As has been the case many times this year, Bob Test and Bodenhamer found themselves inside the top two at the track by race end with Bodenhamer coming out on top this time. Test continued his weekend of strong finishes with another second-place run. Bob King recorded a fourth-place run for the night with Jon Binning sixth, Kevin Coyne seventh, Brian and John Pipes eighth and ninth, and Zach Green rounding out the top ten. There were twelve late models on hand with 10 of those being ULMA member drivers. Bob King was this week’s mystery ULMA prize winner at the speedway. Action continues this Saturday night, July 17 at the track with gates opening at 5 and racing at 7:30. For complete race information and track details visit www.centralmissourispeedway.net. Six drivers have now passed the fifteen starts threshold for the year and have begun discarding previously recorded finishes with improved runs in the results. The ULMA championship is decided by keeping the fifteen best finishes of the year for each driver. Test still holds the point lead over Jon Binning, Chris Cox, Brett Wood, and Jason Bodenhamer.
