NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR JULY 19

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The defending and three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS picked up the $1,000 top prize with his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Boland Performance Trak-Star to stay in contention for the 2010 West Region title.

Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS finished third at Jackson Motor Speedway on Saturday night driving the TJC Mortgage/Maximum Signs and Graphics Mastersbilt and continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 898 points based on his best 16 finishes with seven wins and 15 top five finishes in 17 starts.

Keeton has 818 points based on his best 16 finishes with five wins, 14 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 19 starts. Stokes leads Keeton by 70 points, but the championship battle is a lot closer than it seems.

When you take the 125 bonus points that Stokes has earned and the 50 bonus points Keeton has earned by competing in NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events, Stokes and Keeton are just five points apart.

Stokes can still earn an additional 25 bonus points by competing in one more NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring event, while Keeton can compete in four more National events to earn 100 more bonus points. Drivers are awarded 25 bonus points, up to 150 points, for each NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring they compete in during the Weekly Racing Series season that runs through October 3.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points are based on a driver’s best 16 finishes. Both Stokes and Keeton have reached the 16-race mark, and are now netting points by replacing their lowest event point total among their best 16 finishes with a higher point night total.
