CONCORD, N.C. (Oct. 1, 2010) - The world's best late model drivers will be in the spotlight to begin Bank of America 500 Week as "The Greatest Show on Dirt" returns to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown Oct. 13.

The 800-horsepower, mud-slinging machines will take to the lightning-fast four-tenths-mile clay oval vying for a trip to Victory Lane at The Dirt Track and a $10,000-to-win payday.

Among the more than 40 drivers expected to challenge for the top prize in the 50-lap feature include World of Outlaws point leader Darrell "The Bluegrass Bandit" Lanigan; defending Late Model Showdown winner and 2009 series champion Josh "Rocket Man" Richards; and four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series winner Ken Schrader; along with series regulars Scott Bloomquist, Shane Clanton, Steve Francis, Chub Frank and Tim McCreadie.

In addition to World of Outlaws racing, the National Dirt Racing Association's crate late models are scheduled to battle it out in a 30-lap, $2,000-to-win feature following the night's main event.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. and drivers will participate in an autograph session from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. on the main concourse. Hot laps start at 6 p.m. and opening ceremonies begin at 6:50 p.m. The World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown is scheduled to start at 8:45 p.m.
