Title: Clash South making its first ever trip to Screven Motor Speedway Post by LMR on 10/12/10 at 4:26pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Clash South will be making its first ever trip to Screven Motor Speedway on, Saturday, October 16th for $5,000 to win By: Alex Cummings The stars of the Clash South are looking forward to their first ever visit to Screven Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 16 for a 50 lap, $5,000 to win feature event. This will be the largest payout this season for a Clash South race. The last Clash South race was held in July at Lavonia Speedway in which 22 cars packed the pits that evening. The last time the Clash was at Screven, they were able to wrangle up 39 cars in the pits but was rained out shortly after the first practice session. “I’m very excited to see some new drivers come to the area and tackle the new track here in Screven” said James “Redd” Griffin. Screven Motor Speedway known as the “Action Track of the South” for a reason, it’s a super fast, high banked, 3/8 mile, with that always tacky red Georgia clay. The first Clash South race this season was held at Lancaster Speedway and the fans witnessed Jeff Smith taking the win that evening. The second race of the season was held at Travelers Rest Speedway where Ricky Weeks pulled away with the win. The third race of the season was held at Harris Speedway and yet again, Ricky Weeks paced the field in route to his second win of the season with the Clash South. Casey Roberts was able to motor his way to victory at Lavonia Speedway back in July followed by Brent Dixon and Dennis Franklin. So far Ricky Weeks leads the Clash South points followed by Jim Rasey in 2nd, Jay Sessoms in 3rd, Randy Harmon in 4th and Mike Gault sits in the 5th position. 6 through 10 in points are Tim Allen, Dennis Franklin, Johnny Pursley, Keith Freeman, and Ross Bailes. Second through fifth in points are separated by a mere 47 points. Positions six through ten are separated by just 50 points. With such a close points battle for 2nd on back, drivers can either gain or lose a lot of ground in the championship hunt for the Clash South Championship. The Clash South would also like to announce its sponsors for the race at Screven. Comp Cams will be presenting a $100 gift certificate to the feature winner. Shafer Enterprises Cool Shirts will be presenting a $100 cool shirt bucks gift certificate to the 5th place finisher in the feature event. Safety Kleen will be presenting the Safety Kleen Hard Charger of the Race, 2 cases of oil for use in their personal passenger vehicles. R2C Performance Products will be presenting all heat race winners with a $50 gift certificate. The Clash South would like to thank each and every one of our sponsors for their contributions to the series. Remember fans, support the sponsors that support racing. Gates will open early at 3pm for this historic event and for the first ever trip of the Clash South to Screven Motor Speedway. Also racing on October 16th will be the Road Warriors, Pure Street, and Renegade divisions competing for season points.
