Title: NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Announces Changes For 2011 Post by LMR on 10/22/10 at 1:43pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 22, 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Announces Changes For 2011 CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will undergo some changes for the 2011 season designed to encourage participation at the weekly tracks, increase the competition for the Regional Championships, and pay more money to drivers placing in the top ten of the Regional point standings. The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points system will remain the same for 2011 with a driver winning a weekly event with a car count of eight or more receiving 50 points with a one-point decrease through the tenth spot, with drivers finishing the main event tenth on back receiving 41 points. A win at a weekly event with a car count of less than eight will earn the winner 40 points with a one-point decrease for each finishing position on back through seventh. Drivers that attempt to compete, but do not race in the main event, regardless of car count, will receive 25 points. A driver’s Regional point total will consist of their best 16 point nights during the 27-week season that will run from April 1, 2011 through October 2, 2011. A change in the way points are earned will go into effect for the 2011 season. A driver can only count their best point night during the seven day week from each Tuesday through Monday if they race more than once. Drivers can also earn up to 150 Regional bonus points that will be added to their best 16 point night total two different ways next season. A driver can earn 25 Regional bonus points for competing in a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event in up to six events within the Weekly Racing Series season, and/or a driver can earn 25 Regional bonus points for every four consecutive nights of perfect attendance at a NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series track. The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series gives competitors an opportunity to race for a point fund at their weekly track and a Regional point fund. The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Regional point fund will be increased for 2011 with the Regional Champions earning $5,000 and paying back through the tenth spot in each Region. There is a growing interest in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series as series officials are currently talking with several new tracks interested in joining the series for 2011. That could mean a new Region that will join the current two Regions in place. “Track operators are seeing the value the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series offers in that they can present weekly dirt late model racing to their fans at an affordable price, plus get a lot of technical and public relations support,” NeSmith Racing Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said. “The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series gives weekly dirt late model drivers an opportunity to compete at their weekly track with an affordable engine, compete with drivers regionally at different tracks through a points system, and receive some national publicity, all without leaving their local track.” Tracks interested in becoming a part of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series should contact NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Founder and Director Mile Vaughn at 770-560-1240, or NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Director Roby Helm at 865-207-4157.
