Title: Duncan Crowned Late Model Champion at Hilltop Speedway Banquet Post by LMR on 11/16/10 at 5:46pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 16, 2010 DRIVERS COLLECT AWARDS AT HILLTOP SPEEDWAY'S BANQUET Millersburg, Ohio By Mike Swanger The 2010 Hilltop Speedway banquet was held Saturday night at the St. Peter Catholic Community Center with over 230 people in attendance as the top ten drivers were acknowledged from the six class' of cars. The six Champions all were first time track champs at Hilltop Speedway. Millersburg's Charlie Duncan won the Super Late Model crown with 1630 points on the strength of nine top five's that included one feature win and four second place finishes. Four feature wins put Mansfield's Dave Hornikel in second with 1555 points followed by Ty Myers of Clark with 1350 points. Taking fourth with 1256 points was Wayne Maffett Jr. of Mansfield as Coshocton's Bryan Casey rounded out the top five with 1112 markers. George Lee, Hiriam Bachmann, Bryan Lillibridge, Steve Prince and Lance Elson finished sixth to tenth. It came down to the last night of racing to determine the Snyder Brothers Tri-State Modified champion as seven points was the difference with Hilton Eppley scoring 1395 points to George Lee's 1388 points. Eppley of Clark had four top five finishes with a third place finish the best as he pocketed his first crown. Lee of Loudonville was looking for his first Modified championship. Aaron Phillis of Danville took third with 1329 points as fellow Danville driver finished fourth with 1310 points. Although he had ten feature wins, missing some nights put Hanover's Kevin Morehouse in fifth with 1092 points. Finishing out the top ten were Norm Aronhalt, Ty Samples, Rick Mardis, Robin Duston and Ryan West. Four feature wins and fifteen top five's propelled Galion's Todd Swim to his championship crown with 1660 points. John Wilson of Warsaw was the runner up as he collected 1552 points as Wooster's Donna Canode finished third with 1512 tallies. Posting 1466 points and good for fourth was Nashville's Denny Shear as Kenny Daughriety Jr. of Mt. Vernon took fifth with 1350 markers. Rounding out the top ten were Brian Giaugue, Dave Giaugue, Joe Spearman, last years champ and seven time winner Brandon Gardner and Bob Chilcote. The Circle Track Trucks went down to the last night also as a pair of Sunbury drivers dueled for the championship with Kevin Potts nipping last years' champ, Jerry Gardner by a mere four points. Potts had one win and ten top five finishes and 1332 points to Gardner's 1328 points. Millersburg's John Large notched third place with 1248 points while a pair of Ashland pilots finished fourth and fifth, Tom Garlick with 1230 points and Scott Gray with 1224 markers. Wally Wallace, Dustin Miller, Logan Brannon, Rolly Heyder and Jack Large finished sixth to tenth. Loudonville's Jordan James used his four feature wins and 12 top five finishes to claim the Holmes Tire Mini Stock crown with 1636 points. For the second year in a row, Blaine Markey of Killbuck finished second in the points race with 1512 points as fellow Killbuck driver Chris Priebe finished third with 1454 points. Two Big Prairie drivers grabbed fourth and fifth as Mike Rose chalked up 1230 points and Kevin Markey tallied 1179 points. Rounding out the top ten were Jerry Adkins, Brett Adkins, Dale Beckett, Chris Inscore and Mitch Ling. Tanner Johnson of Newark claims the first ever Mini Wedge championship as he racked up 1576 points via three feature wins and thirteen top five's. Warsaw's Triston Lillibridge was the first of three Lillibridge's in the top five, placing second with 1510 points as third went to Zanesville's Blake Morris with 1494 points and a season best five feature wins. Cole Lillibridge captured fourth with 1384 points while Josey took fifth with a total of 1120 points. Filling out the top ten were Melanie Bryan, Levi Bowen, Dakota Wyer, Taylor Huggins and Brady Reed. Special awards went to Chris Priebe as the track rookie of the year. John Wilson was awarded the announcers award for having the most top five's without a feature win which was twelve top five's. Upside down trophies went to Blaine and Kevin Markey, Kevin Potts and Jason Shairer. The hard luck award went to Mini Wedger Lane Bryan who had his tonsils taken out and then the next week broke his arm and was not able to race anymore of the season. The night started out with a meal of beef and chicken with cheesy potatoes, green beans, salad and pie and after the awards ceremony, music and good times. |
