Title: Fastrak Northeast Late Model Series heads to Lernerville Speedway Post by LMR on 01/26/11 at 3:03am FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 25, 2011 FASTRAK NORTHEAST LATE MODEL TOURING SERIES TO JOIN USAC SPRINTS IN EXCITING INAUGURAL MEMORIAL DAY EVENT By Mike Leone (Sarver, PA)…It’s been an exciting offseason for FASTRAK Northeast with several major announcements coming one after another for the 2011 season. With season number five just a little more than three months away, FASTRAK Northeast is proud to be heading to one of the nation’s most recognizable speedways on Memorial Day. Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway will host the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series for an inaugural landmark event on Monday, May 30 in conjunction with the USAC Sprint Cars! “We couldn’t be more honored to be able to take our cars and stars to Lernerville Speedway,” expressed fifth year Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. “You can’t imagine how many requests we get year after year for a Touring race at Lernerville. We’re thrilled Lernerville has given us an opportunity to participate in this exciting event for the fans! With the recent announcements of FASTRAK in Canada, the addition of a FASTRAK Northeast Touring event at the McKean County Fair, and now a first ever show at Lernerville shows how far FASTRAK Northeast has come in four short years.” Lernerville has hosted several Pro Late Model events over the past few years. The most recent coming last October won by sophomore FASTRAK Touring driver Bryan Force over another second-year FASTRAK driver in Josh Double; however, the Sarver, PA facility has never hosted a FASTRAK-sanctioned event. With it being FASTRAK’s maiden appearance at Lernerville and no other racing taking place in the region, a large turnout of cars is expected. Drivers like Mike Pegher, Jr., Butch Lambert, Jason Fosnaught, and Chris Schneider, who all cut their teeth in the Stock Car action at the “Action Track” will all be anxious to return to Lernerville. Pegher and Lambert are former track champions and would be considered favorites defend their home turf in this prestigious event. Another driver that will surely challenge for the victory is Mike Blose. The New Bethlehem, Pa. racer was another former Stock Car competitor at Lernerville before becoming a Super Late Model standout. Now in the twilight of his career, Blose has settled into FASTRAK and scored his career first Touring Series win last May at Tyler County Speedway. Several of the top FASTRAK racers either have limited or no prior Lernerville experience. FASTRAK’s top winner, Max Blair, has made only one Pro Late Model start and ran a couple Super Late Model races. 2010 Touring Series winners Steve Dixon and Bud Watson will be making their first Late Model starts at Lernerville. “Lernerville Speedway has been, as it has for so many others, a huge part of my racing life,” described fifth year Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. “From fielding cars there with my father for many years and of course working with their management throughout my tenure at Mercer Raceway Park; to now be able to bring a FASTRAK Northeast Touring event to this nationally-renowned and respected facility is truly a wonderful opportunity for not only myself, but all facets of FASTRAK. To join the FASTRAK Late Models with the historic USAC Sprint Cars at Lernerville on this great holiday weekend will be an experience none of our participants will soon forget!” The 2011 Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series will kickoff on Saturday, April 16 at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia and is expected to feature approximately 20 events. Past champions are Alan Dellinger (2007), David Scott (2009), and Max Blair (2008 & 2010). Lernerville Speedway is a 4/10-mile clay oval located 11 miles southeast of Butler, Pa. on Route 356 at 313 North Pike Road, Sarver, PA 16055. Lernerville is just 30 miles northeast of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. For more information, check out their website at www.lernerville.com or call 724-353-1511 (office) or 724-353-1350 (track).
