Title: The Carolina Clash makes its first appearance at Fayetteville Post by LMR on 03/28/11 at 9:46pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 28, 2011 The Carolina Clash makes its first appearance at Fayetteville Motor Speedway this Saturday for the Ed Gibbons Memorial By: Alex Cummings The stars of the Carolina Clash have their eyes set on Fayetteville Motor Speedway for this Saturday nights Ed Gibbons Memorial Race on April 2nd. Last season, the fans of Fayetteville Motor Speedway witnessed Rookie of the Year winner and hometown favorite Dean Bowen, capture his second win of the season in the Ed Gibbons Memorial. The first four races of 2010 at Fayetteville saw four different winners. The first race at Fayetteville which was held in early April saw Dean Bowen win his second race of the year in the Ed Gibbons Memorial. The Carolina Clash came back to Fayetteville on June 5th with Jordan Bland coming out on top for the $4,000 victory. The 3rd appearance for the Carolina Clash was held on August 14th and "Mr. Consistency" Ricky Weeks took the win that evening. The fourth appearance for the Carolina Clash was on October 9th when Dustin Mitchell brought home his first career Carolina Clash win at his home track. The fifth and final race at Fayetteville last year saw Dean Bowen taking the win in route to his second place finish in Carolina Clash points and winning the Rookie of the Year honors. "Last season was a great year for us and I'm looking forward to returning to Fayetteville this weekend" said Bowen. Dennis Franklin the 2010 Carolina Clash champion said "Fayetteville has always been a good track to us and I'll be looking for the win Saturday night". Another hometown hero is Dustin Mitchell who was able to collect his first Carolina Clash win at Fayetteville last year and is looking to repeat again in 2011. Chad Paxton is currently leading the Klotz Lubricants Rookie of the Year standings with his 9th place finish in the first race of the year a couple weeks ago at Carolina Speedway. "This will be my first trip to Fayetteville in a super late model and I'm looking forward to racing there" said Paxton. Fayetteville Motor Speedway will host a full racing card on Saturday evening along with the 40 lap, $4,000 to win Carolina Clash event. The Carolina Clash drivers meeting is set for 6:00 pm sharp with hot laps taking place directly after. Be there as the best super late model drivers in the southeast take to Fayetteville Motor Speedway for the Ed Gibbons Memorial. |
