Easter Extravaganza Highlights 2nd Points Night of Season

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA - EASTER EXTRAVAGANZA FRIDAY NIGHT– Friday night, April 22nd marks the 5th Annual Easter Extravaganza! Last year during intermission kids hunted over 1,000 Easter Eggs on and around the race cars on the front straightaway. Twenty of the eggs were filled with over $100 in cash! The night is sponsored by Marvin’s Mowers and More.

Gates open at 5:30 PM, racing begins at 8:00 PM. Grandstand prices Adult $10, kids 6-12 $5, 5-under is FREE! Pit Admission Adults $30, Kids $20.

It seems like forever since the cars circled the track, with last week being cancelled because of the cold temperatures. With that week off drivers are eager to get back to what they do best, race.

“It was unfortunate it was so cold last week, but in large we made the right call to cancel,” said track manager Eric Shannon. “We need the rain and as long as its not raining late we will be ok to race Friday night.” “Our track has 10 drains around it to promote the drainage, so we can handle a lot of rain.”

With just one points race down for the season, the points races are still up in the air. Chelsea’s Joe Duvall lead Modified, Inola’s Justin Shoemaker leads the 360 Modified, Muskogee’s David Whittle leads Grand National, Chouteau’s Lee McClain leads Factory Stock and Hulbert’s Jerry Pruitt leads Pure Stock.

Duvall and Shoemaker both won the 2010 Championship in their respective divisions, Modified and 360 Modified. Now with wins the last two race nights, they both are on top of their points division with larger than normal bull's-eye.

“It’s a great way to start off the 2011 season,” said Duvall. “At the NASCAR Championship dinner at Charlotte, NC. in December, I was sitting next to Dick Berggren and I told him that I plan on being here eating steak dinner next season.” “Our goal is nothing short of winning a third track championship and second NASCAR championship.”

Chouteau’s Lee McClain holds the Factory Stock points lead with Muskogee’s David Whittle sits atop the Grand National division. Hulbert’s Jerry Pruitt has the Pure Stock points lead.

Whittle is not new to the points lead, he took home the Pure Stock points Championship in 2003 and picked up another in 2008 in the 360 Modified division. He made a made dash for last season’s points champion Dale Richardson in the 2010 race but came up short.

McClain had the Factory Stock points championship sewed up in 2010 but a last night technical inspection dropped him from first to second.

NOTE FOR RAINOUTS - There is a chance of storms, so if you are unsure on our race status, please call the track at 918-687-9200 or follow us on Facebook.

USMTS TOURING MODIFIEDS NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT– Arguably the top Modified drivers in the nation will be at Outlaw Motor Speedway April 29th for the 3rd Annual Spring Fling featuring the United States Modified Touring Series. The race is sponsored by Creek Nation Casino Muskogee.

Jason Hughes, Kelly Shryock, Justin Boney, Terry Phillips, Randy Timms, Johnny Bone Jr., Zack VanderBeek, John Allen, Tommy Weder Jr., Joe Duvall, Greg Skaggs, George Martin, Matt French, Terry Beckham II, Steve Mullenburg, Ryan Gustin, Rick Bebee and many more of your favorite Modified drivers.
