Buhler takes the checkers in Late Models at Manitowoc County Fairgrounds

MANITOWOC, Wisc. - Gordie Seegert Jr. (Oostburg) and Russ Scheffler (Waukesha) led the Late Model A Main to the line on a fast, tacky track. Russ shot to the early lead, but on Lap 2, Tim Buhler (Glenbeulah) would drive by both Scheffler and Seegert Jr. into the lead. Yellow would fly on Lap 7 for Dan Dippel (Plymouth) rolling to a stop after losing his drive shaft. Restarting in the lead was Buhler, followed by Russ Scheffler, Seegert Jr, Craig Schueffner (Sheboygan Falls), and Jim Schmidt (Cleveland). Lap 10 began a stretch of 1 lap intervals between cautions as on Lap 10 a tire was shoved out into the racing line, and on the restart the car of Rick Scheffler (Waukesha) experience mechanical issues collecting the cars of Eric Michaels (Cleveland) and Joey Seegert (Random Lake) bringing out the red flag so drivers could be attended to. Lap 11 another caution would fly for Russ Scheffler who hit the guard rail in Turn 2. On Lap 12 it was the car of Kyle Odekirk (Plymouth) spinning in Turn 4 that produced the final caution and set up a Green, White, Checkered finish. Crossing the line first was Buhler, followed closely by Seegert Jr., Schueffner, Randy Markwardt (Sheboygan), Schmidt, Ron Stroika (Mukwonago), Bob Cullen (Chilton), Ted Dolhoun Sr (Franklin), Dan Sorce (Franklin) and Odekirk. Big climbers in the division were Cullen picking up 9 spots and Markwardt with 7.
