Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Set for $20,000 to win "Clash at the Mag" This Weekend

WAYCROSS, GA (July 6) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will head to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS this weekend for the "Clash at the Mag." The event is sponsored by the Columbus/Lowndes County Convention and Visitors Bureau will taped by Lucas Oil Studios for a SPEED Channel broadcast.

Activity will get underway this Thursday Night, July 7th with a special practice session from 7-10pm. On Friday Night, July 8th the LOLMDS take to the track for Red Buck Cigar Time Trials and Heat Races.

On Saturday Night, July 9th there will be a special pre-race ApplianceZone.com autograph session for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers followed by racing action with the B-Mains and the 100-lap feature event paying $20,000 to win and $1,000 to start. Earl Pearson Jr. from Jacksonville, FL won last years thrilling event and will return to defend his race title.

Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN will lead the stars and cars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series into Magnolia this weekend with a 70-point lead over two-time series champion, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN. Bloomquist, cut 50-points off of Owens points lead while sweeping both events in Ohio this past weekend at Portsmouth and Muskingum County. Bloomquist now has a series-leading seven wins in 2011.

Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN is third in the championship points standings followed by Steve Francis of Ashland, KY and Jared Landers of Batesville, AR. Landers tops the Quarter Master Rookie of the Year points over Bub McCool of Vicksburg, MS, Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA, and Frank Heckenast Jr. of Frankfort, IL.
