Hillbilly 100 to be held at Portsmouth Raceway Park

WAYCROSS, Ga. (July 26) - The 43rd edition will add a completely new chapter to the longest running dirt late model major event in America. For the first time in the long and storied history of the Hillbilly 100, the event will be held in a state other than where it started way back in 1967. Four different West Virginia tracks have held the prestigious event but this year the Buckeye state and Portsmouth Raceway Park got the nod to be the first track outside of West Virginia to host late model racing's oldest late model major event.

"I am really looking forward to working with Donna Rayburn and Tim Coleman and their crew at PRP" stated Hillbilly promoter Carl Short. "They have a great facility and do such a fantastic job that I know the Hillbilly 100 fans are in for a great show". "I never thought I would be having the Hillbilly anywhere but West Virginia but regretfully the renovation work at West Virginia Motor Speedway hasn't progressed as scheduled and quite frankly there just isn't another facility in the state that can handle the event" said Short.

PRP already had the 2 day River Days Rumble Pepsi 50 scheduled for Friday and Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. "It took a little changing around of schedules to make it work" said PRP's Donna Rayburn. "We feel like we have come up with something that will be great for both the racers and the fans" Rayburn continued. The River Days Rumble Pepsi 50 will now be a one day $10,000 to win show on Saturday September 3rd and The Hillbilly 100 will be a one day $25,000 to win $1,000 to start show on Sunday September 4th" Rayburn said.

In addition to the top prizes for the weekend, if one driver can capture both the River Days Rumble Pepsi 50 win and the 43rd Annual Hillbilly 100 win, that driver will earn a $5,000 bonus. The $5,000 bonus makes it possible to earn $40,000 for the weekend.

Lucas Oil Late Model Series will be sanctioning both events and always bring the best of the best on dirt. Couple that with the very strong contingent of local racers and the traveling racers that will be there simply due to the convenient location of PRP and the fact they will get to run for this kind of money two straight nights on one of the area's premier facilities, race fans won't want to be anywhere else.

Two day bargain pricing will be available to save the fans and the racers money for this great weekend of racing. Saturday's River Days Rumble Pepsi 50 will be $25 for general admission and Sunday's Hillbilly 100 will be $30 for general admission. A two day ticket can be purchased for $50. Pit passes will be $35 for Saturday's Pepsi River Day's 50 and $40 for Sunday's Hillbilly 100. A 2 day pit pass will be available for $70.
