Penalties handed down to Rice & Jameson for tire rule violation

Florence Speedway officials have announced that samples taken from the tires of Jerry Rice and Jason Jameson used at our July 16th racing event had been chemically altered. Independent lab testing was completed on three individual samples of each tire and has confirmed that both tires had been altered from the factory set baseline settings and contained a commonly used tire conditioning chemical.

For their infractions, both Rice and Jameson will receive the standard first offense penalty of a five race suspension, loss of all championship points earned in the 2011 season, and a $1,000 fine. They are also retroactively disqualified from the July 16th event where the illegal tires were used. This will credit John Gill with the win. Point totals will be adjusted to reflect these changes and purse monies from the disqualified drivers will be redistributed to the field.

Tire samples taken from John Gill at the July 16th event were also tested and found to be legal.
