Title: Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway - 7/30 Results Post by LMR on 07/31/11 at 1:04pm Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway July 30, 2011 ________________________________________ Geisler gets 72nd career win at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway PITTSBURGH, Penn. (July 30) - Cranberry Township PA Lynn Geisler, PPMS' all time winner won his second Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic DIRTcar Super Late Model Feature and 72nd career all time win. Geisler took the lead on the first lap from his outside pole and dominated the non-stop 25 lap event. Geisler, who two weeks ago was struck by a rock and knocked unconscious, showed no ill effects opening up a lead and never being challenged for the rest of the event. The real battle was for second between Steve Baker and Jared Miley who battled for almost ½ the event side by side, before Miley got by. In a side note, Baker who has run just the spec motor option for several seasons was trying an open motor, while Miley who has run open motors for the past few season had a spec in for a change. Miley was not able to reel in Geisler however and settled for second, with Baker in third, John Garvin held off Jason Rider for fourth in another good battle, while Mike Johnson came from 12th to get sixth (in the #47 car again), Jim Stephans, Ben Miley, Daryl Charlier, and point leader Mike Davis. Mike Johnson and Michael Norris won the heats. Colton Flinner, Allison Park PA won his third feature of the season and fifth career win in the Brougher's Machine Shop Fastrak Crate Late Models and added to his point lead, in what was one of the best features of the season. Much improved Ron Hall led the first lap before Scott Schempp took over on lap 2. Schempp pushed up in turns one and two on lap 3, which allowed Flinner who started 3rd to take over first. Flinner opened up a small lead after that, but as the race wore on Schempp and Steve Beatty closed back in and began to battle Flinner for first. Flinner and Schempp began a side by side battle for first, with Schempp taking the lead on lap 16, only to have Flinner move back out front on lap 17. On the last lap Schempp pulled even with Flinner in turns three and four, but Flinner was able to beat him back to the flag. So it was Flinner's third win in another non-stop race and added to his point lead, while Schempp got a career best finish in second, Beatty was right behind waiting for a mistake by the other two to get his best effort of the season to get third, while Beau Glemba had a strong run from 12th to fourth followed by Mike Reft, Justin Lamb, Ron Hall, Tom Klein, John Cain III, and Billy Stile Jr. The heats fell to Beau Glemba and Tony Sinicrope. McKees Rocks PA's Jake Simmons continued his winning ways picking up his seventh win of 2011 and 40th career win in the Sunoco Race Fuels DIRTcar Cadets. Simmons started 4th and took the lead on the first lap and led the rest of the way. Pat Weldon came from 5th to get second followed by Dave McManus, Craig Koteles, A.J. Poljak, Josh Langer, Nick Kocuba, Jesse Gould, and Curt Bish. Last week's winner Wayne Carbo was knocked out of the event on lap 3. Pat Weldon and Nick Kocuba won the two heats. Martins Ferry OH's J.E. Stalder ended a season of frustration by picking up his first win of the season in the Miley RV Service UMP Modified feature and his 9th career win. Stalder started 6th and took over the lead on lap one and held off rival and four timer winner Bruce Takach to pick up the win. Kevin Miller was third followed by Tom Martineck, George Nicola, Tyler Atkinson, Denny Nakutis and Bill Yohe. The field was a bit short with several regulars at a big race in NY. Bruce Takach won the heat. Ricky Steigerwald won his third feature of the season in the Miley BP Car Wash DIRTcar Hobby Stocks. Dan Duseheid grabbed the lead on the first lap and led the first three laps before Ian Tomei took over and led the next four. Duseheid took over again on lap 8 and led thru lap 9, when Steigerwald moved out front on lap 10. Duseheid spun on the next lap and dropped out, while Stiegerwald held off Tomei for the win. Chase Evans was third followed by Richard Wilson, Ed Wiser, Hannah Ramsey and Duseheid. Ian Tomei won the heat. Todd Weldon Monongahela, PA won his 4th feature of the season in the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns. Weldon defeated Adam Carson, Logan Crewl, Peter Brock, Bernie Blair Jr., Zack Stehle and Christian Schneider.
