Carolina Clash headed to Carolina Speedway for the 39th Annual Shrine 100

GASTONIA, N.C. - The Carolina Clash will be making its 2nd visit of the season to Carolina Speedway Tuesday night August 9th. The stars of the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series will headline the 39th Annual Shrine 100 for the first time in history.

The Shrine 100 is sponsored by the Gaston County Shrine Club. This event is to help raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for children. This race event is the oldest race event put on by the Shriners. The motto for this race is "Fast cars run so weak legs can walk". "This will be an event you don't want to miss, every year it gets bigger and better" stated Mark Gibbons Carolina Speedway co- promoter. "This event is special in so many ways, " said Gibbons. "Racers in this area mark this race on their calendar in January as they all want their name to appear on the back of the event shirt next season."

Last year Jonathan Davenport set fastest time in qualifying and went flag to flag to win the Super Late Model event. Davenport was driving the #93 machine owned by Donald Bradsher. Davenport joined the prestigious list of Shrine 100 winners. Mike Duvall has the most Shrine 100 wins with 7 victories. Others previous winners include: Freddy Smith, Billy Scott, Ray Cook, Buck Simmons, Jeff Smith, and Scott Bloomquist. Matt Long won the NDRA Late Model race, Brandy Baker won the Street Stocks, Jamie Major won the Renegades, and Shannon Barnhill took the Pure Stock 4 win.

On Tuesday Night along with the Clash Super Late Models, the NDRA Late Models, Domino's Pizza Street Stocks, Tilley Harley Renegades, and Q2U BBQ Pit Pure Stock 4's will be on the schedule of events. Gates will open at 5 pm and racing starts at 8pm. Carolina Speedway's address is 6335 Union Rd. in Gastonia, NC.
