Carolina Clash Headed to Wythe Raceway Saturday for Round 3 in the JE Piston Roush/Yates "Chase for the Championship"

The Carolina Clash will be making their 1st visit of the season to the fast, high banks at Wythe Raceway. The Carolina Clash will be at Wythe Raceway Saturday September 17th for a $4000 to win 40 lap feature. Familiar to many of the Carolina Clash drivers, Wythe always produces high speeds and close racing. This will be the 3rd race in the JE Pistons Roush/Yates "Chase for the Championship." With only 4 races remaining in the Chase, every race is critical for the chase contenders.

The JE Pistons Roush/Yates Performance Parts "Chase for the Championship" has been heating up as the top 3 are within 6 pts. In Chase points, Dennis "Rambo" Franklin holds onto the points lead by 3 points over Kenny Compton Jr. Luke Roffers has been on a mission this season in his bid for the 2011 Clash title with 4 Clash wins under his belt. Roffers sits 3rd in Chase points only 6 points behind Rambo. Jeff Smith is in 4th place in points and has found Victory Lane at Wythe on 3 occasions. Smith's last victory at Wythe came in June of 2009. Scott Autry is 5th in Chase points and has one Clash win so far this season. Dustin Mitchell and Mike Gault are tied for 6th heading into Rural Retreat Va. Following Mitchell and Gault in the Chase are David Taylor, Tim Allen, Travis Yow, Jay Sessoms, Craig Shuffield, and Chad Paxton.

The last Clash event at Wythe in August of 2010 saw Kenny Compton Jr. start 15th and take his Appalachian Leasing sponsored, Clements powered, Bloomquist chassis to victory lane. The win was Compton first Career Carolina Clash victory. Compton currently has one Clash in the 2011 season. Dennis Franklin is no stranger to victory Lane at Wythe as he has 4 Carolina Clash victories there.

Other divisions on the card for Saturday include Fastrak Late Models, Super Street, Mods, Pro Mini, U-car and U-car 2. Pit gates will open at 4:00 pm and grandstands gates open at 5:00pm. Wythe Raceway is located at 164 Race Track Rd. Rural Retreat, VA 24368. Track Ph: 276-686-4261. You must be 12 or older to enter pit area.
