Screven Motor Speedway Geared Up for World of Outlaws and All Star Sprint Winter Freeze

Newington, Georgia - The World of Outlaw Late Models and All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars are set to return to the "Action Track of the South" the Screven Motor Speedway on Wednesday, November 2nd. The make-up of the rained-out Inaugural Winter Freeze is expected to bring all the stars of the World of Outlaw Late Models as well as that of the All Star Sprint Circuit of Champions and even many of the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars to Screven as it becomes the only stop on the ROAD TO THE WORLD FINALS at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Rick Eckert of York, Pennsylvania will lead the WoO Late Models into the event as the point leader. However 2-time and defending champion Josh Richards has cut into Eckert’s lead by virtue of his late season hot streak which includes winning the most recent World of Outlaws event at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Richards moved to within 14 points of Eckert’s lead. Richards’ win also moved him into a tie with Billy Moyer for all-time career WoO Late Model Series wins. Screven’s now $12,000 to win race could prove to be the pivotal event in deciding the winner of the season-long $100,000 series title.

Tim Shaffer leads the All Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Cars National point standings as they enter their final two events of the season. Shaffer is followed by Dale Blaney and David Gavel. The All Star Sprints will be making up the rained-out A-Main from the February event. The A-Main is set and locked-in. Screven Owner/Promoter Red Griffin has also added an additional $3000 to win All Star Sprint event that will also be open to drivers that were not at the February event. Many of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car regulars were present back in February but the added event could draw some of those that didn’t make the trip in February. Most notable among those were 20-time WoO Sprint Car Champion Steve Kinser and WoO favorite Donny Schatz who would both be eligible to race in the added event.

As fans of Screven Motor Speedway have come to expect Griffin will once again offer many other entertainment enticements as well as a full menu of restaurant-style food to suit every palate. Fans are invited to peruse the entire campus of the Screven Motor Speedway which now includes a total of 4 other motorsports venues. The Savannah River Dragway is the state-of-the-art 1/8th mile paved drag strip; Screven also has a concrete Concessions Kart Track which fans can race on. The Concessions Track utilizes microsprint cars. The 2 newest additions are the Gamecock Speedway and the Gee Chee Creek Mudd Drags. Gamecock Speedway is a brand new high-banked dirt kart track. The Gee Chee Creek Mudd Drag is the 1/8th mile Georgia Gumbo mud drag strip. Only the Screven Motor Speedway will be in action on November 2nd but all venues are making plans to be running for the 2nd Annual Winter Freeze scheduled for February 9-11, 2012.

Fans will have the opportunity to participate in the Concession Go-Kart Challenge which will see 2 lucky fans win the opportunity of a lifetime to compete in a 25-lap match race against the top 4 drivers in the World of Outlaws Late Model Point Standings and 2 drivers from the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars Series. Also included with the package for the winners will be two pit passes to the World Finals at Charlotte Motor Speedway on November 3 – November 5, 2011. The World Finals Event at Charlotte will conclude the 2011 points for the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series, the World of Outlaw Late Model Series, and the Super DIRTcar Series. Tickets for this once in a lifetime opportunity will be $10.00 each and are available at the concession go kart track during any of our up-coming events at Screven Motor Speedway. If you are unable to attend any of our races during the next few weeks, you can also purchase a ticket by sending a check payable to Screven Motor Speedway to: P.O. Box 310 - Springfield, GA 31329. The winning tickets will be drawn on November 2, 2011 at 6:00PM with the race shortly after on the go kart track. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing in order to participate in the event.
