Title: Hagerstown Octoberfest Fields Set for Sunday Post by LMR on 11/13/11 at 1:26am FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 12, 2011 ________________________________________ HAGERSTOWN’S OCTOBERFEST FIELDS SET FOR SUNDAY Hagerstown, Md - After a two week postponement, there was no Trick or Treat and six inches of wet snow falling on Saturday’s qualifications for the 24th Annual Verizon Wireless Octoberfest 350 at Hagerstown Speedway. The heat races for the late models as well as the big and small block modifieds were completed under sunny skies and in near short sleeve temperatures. The 32 big block entries were first up with Larry Wight, 2004 event winner Matt Sheppard, six time and three time consecutive defending winner Brett Hearn and 2003 event winner Brian Weaver taking the wins while Brian Berger was the consolation winner. The late models then took to the track with 34 entries trying to make the field as 2004 and 2006 winner Jeremy Miller, Ronnie DeHaven Jr., Dave Zona and Kyle Lear were successful in their efforts while Duane Harbaugh took the consolation win. Dan Stone won the fourth heat but came up light at the scales and starts 23rd after coming from the rear of the consolation. There were also 32 small block entries as Larry Wight was again successful in winning the first heat while 2000 and 2005 winner Brett Hearn, Dale Planck and Matt Dilorenzo were winners with Matt Sheppard taking the consolation win after having a flat tire in the third heat. As the postponement interfered with the 410 sprints that had a scheduled event at Susquehanna Speedway, they will be in action tomorrow to start the afternoon with their heat qualifiers.
