Title: Colton Flinner Captures Pro-Late Title at Pittsburgh Post by LMR on 11/15/11 at 6:29pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 15, 2011 ________________________________________ Colton Flinner Captures Pro-Late Title at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway PITTSBURGH, PA -- When the 2011 racing season at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway began an 18 year old Hampton Township resident named Colton Flinner set a goal for himself: that goal was to win the Pro-Late Model Track Championship at the Imperial, PA oval and when the 2011 weekly racing programs were completed on September 10th the goal was accomplished. "In 2010 we didn't really have a home track. My parents and I decided that the best way for me to get the experience I needed to be one of the division's top competitors was to get as much seat time as possible," commented the popular high school student. "Last year we travelled to as many different tracks as possible. This provided me with the opportunity to compete against a lot of different drivers and also gain valuable experience racing on a variety of track surfaces. The experience I gained in 2010 definitely assisted in obtaining the goal of winning the PPMS Pro-Late Divisional Title this season." The A. W. Beattie Career Center student is also ready to acknowledge that the success he attained this racing season is due to the support he has received from his family: dad Mark, mom Jackie and sister Dominique. "My parents and my sister are definitely my biggest supporters and they attend all of my events. Their support is greatly appreciated," continued Flinner. In addition to his father, mother and sister, Flinner's pit crew includes friend Brendan McGreavy. Family ties are an important part of the Flinner Team as Colton's number 75 is also the same number his father used in his racing career. When asked who his racing heroes are Flinner quickly replied, "my father and Scott Bloomquist." The young driver also acknowledges that his father was a good race car driver and more importantly is the youngster's most ardent supporter. As for his adulation of Bloomquist, Colton stated that "I would love to be as successful as he is and possibly better; if that is possible. I also admire the fact that he is able to build his own winning chassis." "I also want to acknowledge Mike and Dave Johnson as their advice continues to make me a better driver. In addition I need to thank Steve Baker of Rocket Chassis for providing me with a new chassis after our original car was destroyed midway through the season. Mike Ingram of Mike Ingram Engines also played an important part in this championship as he rebuilt two of our motors this summer." The assistance of Colton's biological family as well as his "racing family" provided him with the opportunity to turn his dream into a reality and the popular young driver certainly recognizes the importance that this teamwork has played in the success he experience in 2011. Flinner began his racing career at just eight years of age. He captured five go-cart track championships, including three in one season, along with over 150 carting victories. The young driver then moved to the Pro-Late Division at the tender age of 13 and claimed his first PPMS victory on June 13, 2009 just one day after celebrating his 16th birthday. The sponsors of the family owned Rocket Chassis include A.W. Beattie Career Center, Vox Energy, Bellasario's Lounge, Randig's Towing, JNJ Motorsports Media, Fleming Tire, Quality Combustion and Ingram Race Engines. As for his future plans Colton indicates that he will be back at Dirt's Monster Half Mile in 2012 to defend his title. He would love to become a full time driver on the World of Outlaws Late Model circuit or even the NASCAR circuit because as he stated "if you are going to dream, Dream Big!" The soon to be high school graduate has certainly set some lofty goals for himself but his determination, passion for the sport and his impressive racing resume have provided him with the skills needed to succeed both on and off of the race track!!
