Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway Announces 2012 Purse Increases

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The management of Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway has been busy working on the 2012 racing program and several important decisions have been made. The most difficult decision is the E-Mod Division will no longer be a part of the weekly events at "Dirt's Monster Half Mile."

"It is with deep regret that we have decided to drop the E-Mod Division from our weekly racing program," commented Speedway Owner Matt Miley. "We introduced the division to Western PA in 1993 and this was a very difficult decision to make. We sincerely appreciate the teams who have supported PPMS and wish them well in their 2012 endeavors. In addition we also felt that the E-Mod teams be given ample time to make adjustments to their sponsorship commitments for the upcoming season as well as review their options as to where they will compete next summer. PPMS is currently reviewing their special events schedule and the E-Mods may be included in several of these events."

The 2012 racing season at "Dirt's Monster Half Mile" is slated to kick off on Saturday, March 31st with an "Open Practice." The first official racing action will get underway on Saturday, April 7th with Mother Nature's cooperation.

In 2012 the Pro-Late Models will battle for a $700.00 top prize each week.

The Cadet Division will get a new moniker for 2012 as they have been renamed the Late Model Sportsman Division. The top prize has also been increased to $400.00.

Speedway officials are continuing to discuss special events with several sanctioning bodies as the 410 Super Sprints, ARDC Midgets, Big Block Modifieds and possibly Wingless Sprints will see action at the Imperial, PA oval in 2012.

Also watch for details of the "PPMS Purchase 10 Ticket Packages" that will be announced just in time for Santa to make the gift giving easier for all of the racers on your holiday shopping list!!
