HAGERSTOWN SPEEDWAY KICKS OFF WITH RACE A RAMA

HAGERSTOWN, MD. – Hagerstown Speedway’s 65th season is underway as the 27th Annual Race-A-Rama car show at the Hagerstown Valley Mall has concluded.

During Friday’s awards presentation, Best of Show award went to the Chevrolet Monte Carlo #22 hobby stock of Kenny Thomas from Greencastle, PA. Thomas was a long time competitor in the Enduro Dash division which changed to the hobby stocks in 2011 where he ended second in the final point standing.

Top late model awards went to the #46 of Marvin Winters of McConnellsburg, PA, the #12 of Devin Friese of Chambersburg, PA and the #7 of Kyle Lear of Severna Park, MD.

Late model sportsman winners were Elwood Sord’s #77S from Chambersburg, the #16 of defending division champion Pete Weaver of Williamsport, Md. and the #2J of Justin Weaver of Williamsport.

The top vote getters for the pure stocks were the #10 of Charlie Pensinger from Shippensburg, PA, the #1K of Hagerstown’s Randy Kline and the #75 of Dustin Proctor from Big Pool, MD.

Judged best appearing of the various other entries on hand was the #55 600 micro sprint of Alyssa Rowe from Chambersburg. Having raced in the cyclone division, the young driver is making her debut in the micro sprint class.

The speedway will be open in another two weeks, March 17th for a Community Yard Sale and Swap meet at 9:00 a.m. and then followed with a Test and Tune for ALL classes of race cars that will begin at 1:00 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, the 18th.

The first scheduled event is the following Saturday, March 24th, which will be the first points events for the late model championship series, the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic late model sportsman, Ernie D’s pure stocks and the hobby stocks. Warm-ups will begin at 7:00 p.m.
