HAGERSTOWN HOPING APRIL WILL BE A FULL MONTH

Hagerstown, Md. With Hagerstown Speedway one for two in the “have raced” category so far, track owner Frank Plessinger is hoping to get in a full month of racing during April. There are four Saturday’s scheduled that are certain to entertain any race fan.

Rained out on their scheduled opener, the Late Model Championship Series kicks off its first points event for this year’s champion on Saturday, April 7th paying $2,000 to win and $200 to start. It’s also the Egg Race with the top ten qualifiers eligible for an extra $100 bonus for breaking the least amount of a dozen eggs strapped to the rear of their race cars. The Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic late model sportsman, Ernie D’s pure stocks and D & D hobby stocks are also in competition. The KIDZ CLUB Egg Hunt at 5:30 p.m. is free and also open to the public.

Saturday, April 14 is Cartoon Night, the second scheduled $5 General Admission Family Night of the season. Fans are invited to wear their favorite cartoon character apparel. Late model sportsman will headline the program with pure stocks and hobby stocks. Pure stocks will time trial for their qualifying events.

Late models return on Saturday April 21 when the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series arrives for the $10,000 to win 31st Annual Stanley Schetromph Classic. Josh Richards is the defending race winner. Pure stocks will also be in action.

Rounding out the month on the 28th, the Steel Block Bandits make their second appearance at the track for Breast Cancer Awareness Night and the 17th Annual Richard “Boney” Bonebrake Tribute for the late model sportsman plus hobby stocks in action. Fifty two entries were on hand last season with J.T. Spence scoring the win. This year’s event will pay $2000 and with the addition of the Bonebrake Tribute name, should be the most lucrative and prestigious event on the SBB schedule.
