RAIN WASHES OUT RUMBLE ON THE GUMBO FOR THE NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS

GREENVILLE, MS - The $5,000-to-win 3rd Annual Rumble On The Gumbo 75 for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights has been postponed due to heavy rains. Series and tracks officials are currently looking for a suitable weekend to reschedule the two-day event.

Thursday morning severe thunderstorms with hail that left dumped 2.5 inches of rain on the track leaving the ¼-mile gumbo clay racing surface and the pit area with standing water. Track officials determined there was no way the area would dry out enough to prepare the facility for proper racing conditions.

The next two events on the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division schedule will be at Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA on April 27 and 28. The April 27 race will be a $2,000-to-win 40 lap event, and the race on April 28 will be a $2,500-to-win 50-lap event on the Albany Motor Speedway ¼-mile clay oval.

The races will mark the first-ever visit for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division to Albany Motor Speedway and Rounds 4 and 5 of the 2012 run for the $20,000 NeSmith Cup Championship. NO MAKE-UP DATE FOR NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS GREENVILLE RACE

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The rained out NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Rumble On The Gumbo 75 at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will not be made up due to scheduling conflicts. The race was scheduled for April 6-7, but heavy rains washed out the event. The NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS will return to Greenville Speedway for three already scheduled races this season.

“We looked at our schedule, the Greenville Speedway schedule, and the schedules of other Mississippi tracks, and we could not find a date that would fit to reschedule the Rumble On The Gumbo 75,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said. “We do, however, have three more races over two weekends at Greenville Speedway already on our 2012 schedule, and we’re looking forward to returning for those events.”

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division will return to Greenville Speedway for the Delta Nationals with a pair of races on July 20 and 21. The July 20 event will be the $2,000-to-win Delta Nationals 40 and the event on July 21 will be the $2,500-to-win Delta Nationals 50.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour will also return to Greenville Speedway on October 4-6 for the 6th Annual Gumbo Nationals with a 60-lap $5,000-to-win main event.
