Ehrhart Wins His Season’s First in Late Models at SSP on Saturday Night

Newberrytown, PA (June 2, 2012) – Dover’s Justin Ehrhart won the 20-lap Late Model feature event on Saturday Night at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Hometown Heroes night for Dover, East Berlin and Dillsburg.  The 2011 SSP Late Model Champion completed his backflip from the roof of his racecar in victory lane.  Doug Bennett of Chambersburg has been unbeatable as of late by winning his fourth 20-lap Street Stock feature in a row.  Chad Stine of York won his second Xtreme Stock Car feature of the season.  Carlisle’s Curt McDade won the Road Warrior 15-lapper.  Mt. Wolf’s Anthony Roberts won his second consecutive 10-lap Pro Sign & Design Mini Van feature event.  Aaron Brommer of Auburn once again continued his dominance at SSP by winning the 12-lap PENNMAR Vintage Car feature event.  
 
The 25-lap Late Model feature began with rookie driver J.R. Rodriguez jumping out to the early lead for the second consecutive week.  Rodriguez held the lead for the first four laps until Justin Ehrahrt made the pass for the lead on the high side in turn one.  Once into the lead, Ehrhart never looked back to take the checkers at the end.  Rodriguez took the runner-up spot for the second straight feature race.  Carl Billet, a winner from two week’s ago took the third place spot.  Billy Wampler won the JR’s Paving Hard Charger award moving up 8 spots from a 12th place starting spot to finish fourth.  John Moser Jr. finished fifth.  Steve Billet, Randy Christine Jr. and Ehrhart were the heat race victors.  
 
From the front row, Mike Zeigler Jr. took the early lead of the Street Stock 20-lapper.  Jim Palm Jr. took the top spot away from Zeigler on the second lap.  On lap 5, Doug Bennett moved from seventh and passed Palm for the lead.  Bennett was pursued by both Zeigler and Scott Thunberg, but they couldn’t get close enough to challenge for the top spot.  Bennett took the win followed by Zeigler Jr. and Thunberg in second and third respectively.  Randy Zechman was fourth, followed by Jasen Geesaman in fifth.  Bennett and Zeigler Jr. were heat race winners.
 
Dan Snyder took the lead on the start of the 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event and led for the first four circuits.  Adam Smith took over the top spot on lap 5.  In the waning stages of the race, Chad Stine took the lead on lap 17, coming all the way from a 17th place starting spot at the beginning of the feature.  In the end, Stine took the win over Smith.  Patrick McClane finished very close behind in third.  Rich Lomman scored a season best fourth place finish and Cameron Benyou came from the back after pitting on lap 16 to finish fifth.  Stine was the Madison House Hard Charger by going from a 17th place starting spot to win the 20 lapper.  Heat races were claimed by Snyder and Michael Goodwin.
 
Anthony Roberts took the lead from Zakari Kitner on the fourth lap and led to the finish to claim his second straight Pro Sign & Design Mini Van 10-lap feature victory over Kitner.  Al Kessock finished third with Butch Richcreek and Donny Groft rounding out the top five finishers.  Marcus Groft and Richcreek won their respective heat races.  

In the 15-lap Road Warrior feature, Curt McDade held off Daryl Sipe to win the race after finishing in the runner-up spot in the previous three Road Warrior features this season.  Sipe settled for second, followed by Adam Peters in third.  Calvin Redding and Thomas Thompson finished fourth and fifth respectively.  Sipe and McDade won their heat races as well.  
 
Aaron Brommer took the lead on the start from the pole position and never looked back to win the 12-lap PENNMAR Vintage Cars feature over Pernell Snyder.  Fred Krickbaum Jr. finished third with   Rick Pastor and Leroy Felty rounding out the top five.
