Title: NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 11 Roundup Post by LMR on 06/12/12 at 4:47pm NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series News Release: Contact – ROBY HELM – (865) 207-4157 June 12, 2012 NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR JUNE 11 CARTERSVILLE, GA – Mother Nature was the big winner in Week 11 competition for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series, as she rained out seven of 11 events. But in the four races that were contested, a new point leader has emerged after Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA took his 12th win of the season on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS. Trosclair has accumulated 583 points with 12 wins and 13 top five finishes in 14 races driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special. Six wins for Trosclair have been 50 point wins with against car counts of eight or more, and six wins have been 40 point wins against car counts of less than eight. He has won at least one race in each of the 11 weeks of series competition. When a driver runs multiple races in one week, only the highest event point total for that week counts towards his season total. In the first 11 weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, Trosclair has counted all six 50-point wins, a 48-point third-place finish, four 40-point wins, and 75 Bonus Points for a total of 583 points. This coming weekend, Trosclair can add another 25 Bonus points before reaching the maximum of 100 by competing in his fourth straight week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition. Trosclair holds a 16-point lead over Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS, who was one of eight drivers in the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS standings that did not race this past weekend due to the rainouts. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third with 557 points, and “The General” can still earn another 25 Bonus Points before reaching the maximum allowed at 100. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings with 545 points. Chase Washington of Houlka, MS traveled to Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN on Saturday night, and took a 40-point win driving the Jerry Inmon Racing Special. Washington’s sixth win of the season vaulted him from ninth to fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 533 points. The sixth through tenth spots in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings respectively are Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS with 525 points, Ryan King of Seymour, TN with 520 points, Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS with 505 points, Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS with 494 points, and Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS with 478 points. In other Week 11 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action, the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL took his fourth win of the season on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving the Edge’s Gas Company Special. Roger Witt of Batesville, AR drove The Chrome Shop Special to his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO. Witt continues to climb up the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings, and is closing in on the Top 20. In the coming weeks, drivers will begin to close in on their 14th week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, and that’s when major shifts in the point standings begin to occur. A driver’s best 14-week point totals, plus Bonus Points, count as their season total. Once a driver reaches the 14-week mark, they begin to try and replace their lowest weekly point total with a higher one. Drivers that are now outside the Top 20 in points can quickly climb up the list as they earn full points before reaching the 14-week points of their respective seasons. Drivers with three or more NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series this season that are currently outside the Top 10 in the point standings to keep an eye on in the coming weeks are Witt, Edge, Duke Palasini of Leland, MS, Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL, Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL, Kyle Berry of Portageville, MO, Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL, Joey Thomas of Seale, AL, and Chris Noah of Rainbow City, AL.
