Title: Eddie Carrier Jr. Scores First Summernationals Victory Post by LMR on 07/13/12 at 2:57am FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 12, 2012 ________________________________________ Eddie Carrier Jr. Scores First Summernationals Victory by Ben Shelton SALT ROCK, West Virginia (07/12/12) –Eddie Carrier Jr. piloted his #28 Grover Motorsports/Engines Inc./Rocket/Grover Racing Engine Super Late Model to his seventh win of the 2012 season on Wednesday night and his first-ever, UMP DIRTCar Summernationals win. The past few weeks have not been especially kind to Eddie at the race track, but on Wednesday night he turned all of that around by scoring his first career, UMP DIRTCar Summernationals win with a triumph at Bruschcreek Motorsports Complex (Peebles, Ohio). Thirty-two competitors checked in for the $5,000-to-win event, which was titled Steven Partin's Hidden Gem. The proceeds from the event went to sponsors college scholarships for area students. Eddie began his evening by blazing to fast time honors in not only his group but overall in qualifications. As a result, he started on the pole for the first heat race. He would go on to win his heat race to lock into the redraw for the feature, where he was the recipient of the second starting spot for the 40 lap finale. In the feature Eddie pursued early leader, Chad Smith, before taking the lead on lap 4. Once out front he never looked back on his way to his seventh win of the year. He was followed across the finish line by Brian Shirley, Josh Richards, Jason Montgomery, and Chad Smith. “We’re always pretty good at this track,” Carrier said. "I don’t know if it fits my driving style or we’ve just been here and got laps, but we always seem to run good here.” Eddie was also in action on Tuesday night as he traveled to Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) a $5,000-to-win, UMP DIRTCar Summernationals event at the 1/2 mile oval. With forty-four entries on hand, Carrier Jr. recorded the sixth fastest time in his group to earn the sixth starting spot for the first heat race. He would pass one car to finish fifth, but with only the top four cars moving onto the feature he was forced to run the b-main, where he started in the second slot. In the b-main he cruised to a comfortable win to lock into the seventeenth starting spot for the 40 lap finale. In the feature passing would be difficult, but Eddie would manage to advance three positions to a fourteenth place finish. Full results from both events are available at www.TheHellTour.com. This weekend, July 13th-14th, Eddie will enter a pair of events in Ohio and Kentucky. On Friday night a $3,000-to-win, unsanctioned event will be held at Southern Ohio Speedway (Wheelersburg, Ohio), and on Saturday evening the $7,500-to-win, 25th Annual Paul Butterball Woolridge Memorial will be held at Richmond Raceway (Richmond, Kentucky).
