Title: Hilltop Speedway - 5/11 Results Post by LMR on 05/12/13 at 2:15pm Hilltop Speedway May 11, 2013 _______________________________________ LEE, DAUGHERTY, LILLIBRIDGE, FRITTER & BROWN BEAT RAIN AT HILLTOP by Mike Swanger MILLERSBURG, OH (May 11) - The racing action opened up with mostly cloudy conditions then ended with the sky unloading the rain and cutting short the nights action at Hilltop Speedway. Loudonville's George Lee dominated the Holmes Tire late model action as he set the Dzugan Fire & Rescue fast time, won the dash to start on the pole of the feature and led all the way in the 25 lap event to post his first win of the season aboard the Cowen Truck Line, LSI, and Mudslinger Coffee #61. Charlie Duncan would challenge the 'General' early on, but he and Brad Malcuit dueled for second with an intense battle going on behind them that consisted of Ryan Markham, Rick Bond, JR. Gentry, heat winners Todd Brennan and Tyler Carpenter along with Ty Myers. Through the middle part of the race they were three wide and changing positions and lines all race lond as Lee drove away and Duncan secured second. With five to go, Gentry dropped with mechanical problems as Malcuit, Carpenter and Myers went three wide down the front stretch with Carpenter and Malcuit touching and sending Malcuit into the wall, ending his night with Carpenter also going pitside. On the restart, Lee would again speed away as Myers, who started ninth, tried to chase down Duncan for second and Bond and Brennan would bend some fenders before finishing in that order. Mansfield's Bob Daugherty and John Wilson posted the heat wins to start on the front row of the Street Stock feature and they would run 1and 2 for the first two laps when Kyle Moore took over second with Brandon Gardner taking third from Wilson. Moore tried every line he could to get around the Char's Cars and Met's Machine Shop #21d of Daugherty and then on lap 11 got tangled up with the lapped car of Brian Simpson, ending their race. Daugherty held off Gardner on the restart to collect his second win of the season as Wilson claimed third with 14th starting Ryan Wisecarver taking fourth over Kyle Dickinson. John Large started on the pole of the Bugs-R- Gone Truck race but spun out on the first lap and went to the back of the line on the restart as Warsaw's Cole Lillibridge took over and he never looked back and chalked up his third win of the season in the #52 truck with Rolly Heyder, Kevin Potts, John Large and Moose Workman filling out the top five as rain started to fall at the end of the feature. Heat winners were Large and Lillibridge. Tracy Fritter of Zanesville zoomed into the lead at the drop of the green flag for the Modlite feature and he would never be challenged as Kenny Meadows was in pursuit with Kevin Nicolino, Tyler Frankenberry, Doug Stanley, David Innes and Brian Stuhldreher dicing for third. With a light rain falling, Nicolino would spin on lap ten to bring out the caution. Two more laps would get recorded before the rain picked up and the race was called complete just three laps short of the scheduled 15 laps with Fritter, Meadows, Frankenberry, Stanley and Innes the top five. Meadows and Fritter won the heats. The Mike's Service Mini Wedge youngsters continue to impress as Millersburg's Tristen Brown and Braxton Wilson, the two heat winners, went side by side and back and forth in their feature with Brown sling shotting out of turn four to edge Wilson for the win at the finish line. Nick Large ran a close third with Karyssa Beagle and Brook Dawson rounding out the top five. The rain caused the Raceday Photo Modifieds and the Thompson's Garage Mini Stocks features to be postponed until next week as they will have double features as next Saturday, May 18th will bring in the ADRA Late Models going for $2,000 to win, the Street Stocks along with the Mini Wedges as the Bugs-R-Gone trucks take the night off.
