KILGORE INCHES VICTORY IN CRATE WARM-UP #1 @ NORTH GA… 9/14

CHATSWORTH, GA (September 14) --- In a thrilling Crate LM ShowDown Warm-Up event, local racer Colby Kilgore (# 44) in his “Online Textile Recycling, Brown Bridge Auto Repair, Wounded Warriors Project, Outlaw Nation” sponsored racecar, inched out a victory Saturday night at North GA Speedway during the 25-lap “A” Main feature. Early race leader Tanner Works of Cleveland, TN and track dominator Jeff Smith of Villanow, GA battled to the finish only to have Kilgore nose under Works off of turn four coming to the checkers. The margin of victory was definitely the closest of the season at the 1/3 mile clay banked dirt track, that was literally inches apart. Smith and Works tangled for the second time of the race coming to the white flag and it seemed Smith was going to take another victory. For some reason Smith (whom apparently thought the race was over) slowed momentarily in turn two, allowing Works and Kilgore to roar past under full power. Smith got back in the gas salvaging a third place finish as Works and Kilgore headed to the checkers. In what can best be described as a photo-finish Kilgore edged Works for the victory. Unfortunately emotions ran high n’ hard after the races conclusion and Smith would receive a disqualification for Unsportsman like conduct and Reckless Endangerment against Works. In other racing action Johnny Cloer Jr survived a tussle with Tod Hernandez and back-marker car Chip Burke for the 25-lap LLM Steelhead victory. David Rogers won Econo Hobby, Tony Walston won Mod Hobby feature races and Darrell Owenby won the Sportsman feature. Jimmy Plumlee won the Pony feature. Next Saturday North GA Speedway hosts Crate LM ShowDown Warm-up event #2 with a full regular racing program Saturday, September 21st. The Crate LM warm-up events are for the forthcoming October 12th $5,000 to-WIN “1-Big Crate ShowDown”
