Shane Clanton Knocks Down First Win of '14; Prepares for WoO Action

ZEBULON, Georgia (June 24) - Shane Clanton registered his first win of the 2014 campaign on Saturday night in his #25 Weldbank Energy/Capital Race Car/Clements Race Engine Super Late Model at Dixie Speedway.

With threatening weather throughout the region and a busy travel schedule looming the team stayed close to home over the weekend, competing in a Weekly Racing Series program on Saturday night at Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia).

Eighteen Super Late Models were on hand for the program, and Clanton starting his outing by setting fast time in qualifications. After spinning a four on the inversion wheel Shane started fourth on the grid for the feature. He quickly found his way into the second spot and stalked the leader until lap 25 of the feature, when he took over the top spot. Once out front Clanton never looked back and went on to score his first victory of the 2014 season. Shawn Chastain finished second followed by Dale Thurman, Austin Smith, and Johnny Chastain.

"We've been really working hard this year, and it feels great to get the first win of the season out of the way," noted Clanton. "We've got a lot of racing to do in the next month, so this is a big shot in the arm as we get ready to hit the road."

Shane Clanton returns to action with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Models this week with four events in the state of Pennsylvania. Action opens on Tuesday, June 24th with an $8,000-to-win event at Big Diamond Raceway (Minersville, PA). From there the team travels to Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, PA) for the 8th Annual Firecracker 100. A three date slate of action includes $6,000-to-win events on Thursday and Friday with a $30,000-to-win event on Saturday. Shane enters the week of events fourth in the latest standings.
