Ronny Lee Hollingsworth Knocks First Two Wins of '14

NORTHPORT, Alabama (July 9) – It was a busy Fourth of July Weekend for Ronny Lee Hollingsworth that saw the Northport, Alabama driver score his first two victory of the 2014 season in his Pioneer Roofing of Northport #18 Bob Pierce Super Late Model.

Action got underway on Thursday night at Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Tennessee). Twenty-eight Super Late Model registered for the $3,000-to-win program at the 3/8 mile oval. Hollingsworth set fast time in his respective group to lock into the third starting spot for the main event. During the course of the 40 lap feature Ronny Lee battled at the front of the pack for much of the event before crossing the finish line in third behind race winner, John Ownbey, and Tim Busha. Friday evening found the team pitted at Moulton Speedway (Danville, Alabama), and Hollingsworth locked into the feature via his preliminary efforts. When the race went green fellow Eric Cooley jumped to the race lead. Cooley showed the way for much of the event before mechanical issues would send him pitside, relinquishing the lead to Hollingsworth. Ronny Lee led the remaining laps for his first victory of the 2014 season aboard his #18 Pioneer Roofing sponsored Super Late Model. On Saturday night the team traveled to Arkadelphia Speedway (Arkadelphia, Alabama) as Ronny Lee pulled double duty in the Super Late Models and NeSmith Crate Late Model divisions. A $2,500 top prize was posted for Super Late Model competitors, which drew a field of twenty entries. Hollingsworth locked into the pole position for the finale, and went on to snare his second victory of the weekend. Full results from the event are available at www.ArkadelphiaSpeedway.com

A stout field of thirty-five entries were on hand for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series program. Ronny Lee fell short of locking into the feature via his qualifying efforts, forcing him to run a b-main. He went on to win the first b-main, earning him the eleventh starting spot on the feature grid. During the course of the 40 lap finale Hollingsworth advanced to a ninth place finish in the final rundown. Full results from the event are available at www.NeSmithRacing.com.

The weekend drew to a close on Sunday evening at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). Hollingsworth locked into the sixth starting spot in the main event via time trials amongst twenty-two entries. In the feature Ronny Lee would retire to a disappointing 20th place finish. "It was awesome to get not only get back in victory lane, but to get back in the car period," said Hollingsworth. "We've been real busy with work, so we haven't been racing as much as we would've liked. Hopefully we'll have more chances in the next few months."

The upcoming weekend will see Hollingsworth tentatively competing in the $2,500-to-win, Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) Super Late Model event at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Saturday, July 12th.
