Ray Cook Records Third-Straight Runner-Up in Dixie's Fall Championship

BRASSTOWN, NC (September 17) - Ray Cook and his #53 team were back in the pit area at the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday, September 13 for the annual 'Fall Championship.' Ray posted the second quickest lap during the qualifying session at the D-Shaped venue and later started the $3,000 to win feature event from the outside of the front row. The Brasstown, North Carolina standout then raced hard towards the front of the field during the course of the 40-lapper and eventually guided his new Capital car to a third-straight runner-up performance behind only victor Randy Weaver. Full results from Dixie Speedway can be accessed online at www.dixiespeedway.com.

"I guess you could definitely say we have a second place car right now with our new Capital piece," chuckled Cook earlier this week via telephone. "The car is real good, but we just have to find a little more speed to get over that hump. It was great to have Randy (Weaver) there last Saturday, so we kind of know where we stand against some of the stiffer competition heading into the Dixie Shootout in a couple of weeks. We plan to do some more testing before Smoky Mountain on Saturday and hopefully we can find that little bit that we are missing right now to help us get into victory lane."

The Ray Cook Racing team will look to get one spot better this upcoming weekend when they travel to Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee. The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) will roar into the Knoxville-area on Saturday evening, September 20 to preside over the 'King of the Mountain Fall Classic.' A $5,000 top prize will be on the line on Saturday in a 40-lap main event in the Volunteer State. Additional information concerning the single-day showdown at Smoky Mountain Speedway can be viewed by clicking on www.sasdirt.com.
