Weather Cancels Southern Nationals Bonus Series "Fall Classic" at Ponderosa Speedway
SOMERSET, KY (October 29)-Officials with Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. and the Southern Nationals Bonus Series have agreed to cancel the 24th Annual "Fall Classic" which was to be held on Friday October 31st and Saturday November 1st.
After weather forecasters increased the rain chances to 60 percent for Friday and the National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for both days and a chance of snow flurries for Saturday, track and series officials thought it would be best to cancel the event, after an already second attempt at this event has been made. The event will not be made up this year.
The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will return to action in a few weeks for Round # 10 and the 2014 season finale on November 14/15 at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tenn. for the $11,000-to-win / $700-to-start 3rd Annual "Deep Fried 75" event. The event will also feature the "Turkey Run 20" event on Friday Night for 20 lucky drivers that will race for 20 laps distance and $1,000-to-win and $100 to start. On Saturday Night a Non-Qualifiers race will also be held before the main event paying $300-to-win.
