Francis completes four-race Invasion Tour sweep at Manjimup Speedway

MANJIMUP, W.A. (January 25) - Steve Francis rounded out his Australian campaign in the best possible fashion last night at Manjimup Speedway as he claimed his fourth feature race in a row and in the process clinched the 2015 Rando's Cane Furniture Invasion Tour.
Francis was simply in a class of his own in the feature, making the most of his front row start to race away with each start. The first attempt saw a few cars make contact, resulting in Devin Moran's left rear tyre going flat and ending his race early. The next start went for just a few laps and Francis had built up a huge five second lead when he was bought back to the field after Craig Vosbergen slowed.
The race restarted with Francis again racing away, while behind him was a titanic battle for third with Kye Blight executing a brilliant pass on Jamie Oldfield to grab the position. Unfortunately it lasted only few laps as Blight spun infield, handing the position back to Jamie.
In the end though it was all Francis as he crossed the line first, recording his fourth feature win from as many starts. Jeep Van Wormer must be sick of seeing the rear of the Francis machine as for the third time in as many races he came second, while Jamie Oldfield claimed the final podium position.
By winning the final feature Francis secured the overall Rando's Cane Furniture Invasion Tour, scoring 473 points to defeat Jeep Van Wormer on 443 and Jason Oldfield on 395. Paul Stubber and Brad Blake rounded out the top five finishers. In total 34 drivers competed in at least one round of the series, with the full final points standings published below.
Earlier in the night Francis, Jason Oldfeld, Craig Vosbergen and Kye Blight each won a heat race. Over the tour the American drivers amassed seventeen race wins while the Australians managed twelve.
The Late Model Sedans now have a rest before their next meeting on the 21st of February which will be the WA State Title to be held at QUIT Collie Speedway.
