Carolina Speedway officials postpone Skyler Trull Memorial race one week

GASTONIA, NC (March 2) - Carolina Speedway officials have postponed the season opener, our 15th Annual Carolina Clash Skyler Trull Memorial to March 12-14 and our first open practice to March 7 (2/28 practice is cancelled). Due to the recent wet/cold weather, drivers have not had an opportunity to practice on our newly reconfigured track. We want the season to start out on a fantastic note, so we are moving these dates back a week. We look forward to seeing everyone soon! Read more here.

Skyler Trull Memorial rescheduled again to March 20-21

GASTONIA, NC – With the impending weather front moving in, Carolina Speedway officials have been forced to once again postpone the running of the 15th Annual Carolina Clash Skyler Trull Memorial to next weekend March 20-21st.

“Mother Nature has not been a race fan so far this season,” said Carolina Speedway‘s Clint Elkins. “In all honesty with all the construction we’ve done at the track this off season, we need some dry weeks. We just can’t handle ANY more rain.”

The schedule will remain the same with an open practice session on Thursday night March 19th from 6:30-9:30 PM. The only change to the program will be on Saturday night as the Domino’s Pizza Street Stocks will replace the SECA Crate Sportsman on the card.

The event held in the honor of Skyler Trull each March has become a fixture in the southeast over the last decade. Skyler’s father Larry is a crew member and cousin of veteran racer Doug Sanders. Sanders’ car carries the colors of the event each year.

Friday night March 20th will feature a full night of racing. The UMP Modifieds will battle for 25 laps for a $1,000 to win prize. The Q2U BBQ Pit Four Cylinders and Tilley Harley Davidson Renegades will each have a $500 to win The Front Wheel Drive Hornets will have a $300 to win event. The SECA Late Models will be qualifying and running heat races on Friday night.

Saturday night, March 21st will be a full program for the Carolina Clash Super Late Models with the main event being the $5,000 to win Skyler Trull Memorial. The SECA Late Models will have a $3,000 to win 35 lap event. The UMP Modifieds will once again be on hand but this time they will battle for a $1,200 to win show. Also on the card will be the Domino’s Pizza Street Stocks with a $500 to win main event.

“Starting off the year at Carolina Speedway has been a Carolina Clash and a

‘State of Carolinas’ tradition for the past six seasons. Since 2009, the Skyler Trull Memorial has been the kick-off for the Carolina Clash and this year should not be any different,” stated Mark Huey of the Carolina Clash series. “After talking to the owner of Lancaster Super Speedway and Carolina Clash owner/promoter Larry Lee, we will reschedule the Lancaster Super Speedway date for May 30.”

Pit gate opens on Friday night March 20th at 4:00 PM with Grandstands open at 5:00 PM. Drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 with hot laps at 7:15. Racing will begin at 8:00 PM. General admission tickets are $12, pits are $25.

Saturday March 21st pit gates will once again open at 3:00 PM. Grandstands will open at 4:00 pm. Drivers meeting will be at 6:15 with racing at 7:00 PM. General admission will be $25 with pit admission $35. Two day tickets can be purchased also. General admission two day ticket is $35 and a two day pit pass is $55.

There will also be an open practice session on Thursday night March 19. Grandstands will be FREE. Pits $15. Three day pit passes are $60
