Title: ULMS at Stateline Speedway - 5/9 Results Post by LMR on 05/12/15 at 2:11pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 12, 2015 _______________________________________ Lady Luck helps Lobb pocket $3,000 in ULMS Lloyd Moore Memorial by Jamie McMillen BUSTI, NY (May 9) - Thirty minutes before scheduled start time, a betting man would’ve loaded up his equipment and lost hope that Stateline Speedway would even be racing on the evening of May 9th, 2015. However, in a strange turn of events, the weather held off, and the diehard fans who braved the weather were treated to a spectacular show on a great racing surface. The weather held off and the Lloyd Moore Memorial for the Zimmer’s Service Center Inc. ULMS Late Models 35-lap feature was run as scheduled. An anxious crowd was greeted with a 4-wide salute as the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Super Late Models paced the track to kick off their 15th season, headlining the Lloyd Moore Memorial for $3,000 to win on what turned out to be a fine evening at Busti’s renowned dirt track. Andy Boozel and Jared Miley led the field to the green but no laps would be recorded after several different incidents to start the race. The most severe and notable accident being when Steve Kania, Chad Valone, Ryan Scott, Dutch Davies, John Lacki, Darrell Bossard, Mike Knight, Rich Gardner, Chris Hackett, Bob Dorman, Paul Briggs, John Volpe, and Nathan Hill would all collect each other in a thirteen car pile-up. Once the ULMS Super Late Models field finally got a lap in, the show started, and it didn’t disappoint. Jason DuPont was putting the pressure on Miley for the lead as John Lobb lurked in the third position, followed by Bump Hedman and Dutch Davies rounding out the top five at lap ten. DuPont and Miley would continue dicing through lapped cars and battling hard up until lap nineteen when Mike Knight brought out the caution in turn one. You could put the top three cars of DuPont, Miley, and Davies under a hat for the next seven laps before Davies would lose control of his machine coming out of turn two, allowing for John Lobb to jump back into the third position, now followed by John Volpe and Greg Oakes, who had made his way up through the pack. The next eight laps would be some of the best, most competitive laps that the area has seen in some time for the super late model division. It was DuPont and Miley running their own grooves and swapping the lead at the entrance and exit of every turn. They would come across the line dead even for the white flag and continue the battle until contact was made exiting turn 4 to the checkered flag as John Lobb would sneak by on the inside to steal the win, as Miley crossed the line backwards, and Volpe, Oakes, and Chad Valone rounded out the top 5 at the conclusion of a spectacular race.
