Title: Jimmy Mars Pulls Double-Duty in Gopher 50; Wins $4,000 in USRA Post by LMR on 07/23/15 at 3:57pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 23, 2015 _______________________________________ Jimmy Mars Pulls Double-Duty in Gopher 50; Wins $4,000 in USRA Modifieds MENOMONIE, WISC (July 23) - Mars Racing made the trip to Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota on Saturday evening, July 18 to compete in the 36th edition of the NAPA 'Gopher 50.' Jimmy Mars posted the ninth fastest lap in World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying and later stormed to the front to capture a heat race victory. After drawing the fifth starting spot prior to the start of the $11,000 to win main event, Jimmy was unfortunately spun on lap three while running in the top five. The Menomonie, Wisconsin star then had his work cut out for him throughout the remainder of the 50-lap distance, but was able to battle from the rear to salvage a tenth place showing in the 'Gopher 50.' Jimmy pulled double-duty at Deer Creek last Saturday, as he also piloted a client's #89 MB Customs machine in the USRA Modified division. Jimmy ran second in heat race action and later grabbed the top spot on lap 25 of the main event. The popular driver known as the "Iceman" then led the remaining six circuits of the headliner to bag his first Modified feature win at the speedway and the $4,000 winner's check ahead of Brandon Davis, Cory Crapser, Joey Jensen, and Brad Dierks! Complete results from the busy night can be found online by visiting www.deercreekspeedway.com. The #28 team will invade the Land of Lincoln on July 23-25 for two more big World of Outlaws Late Model Series showdowns. Later tonight, Quincy Raceway in Quincy, Illinois will host their first-ever WOOLMS program - the 'Workforce 40,' which pays $8,000 to the winner. On Friday and Saturday, the 26th Annual 'Prairie Dirt Classic' will be held at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. Preliminary action will start at FALS on Friday evening, while Saturday's 100-lap PDC will boast a hefty $26,000 payday.
