Title: Re: Dega 100 Up Next For The Chevy Super Series At Talladega Short Track Post by LMR on 11/12/15 at 2:29pm Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series News Release: Contact – ROBY HELM – (865) 207-4157 November 12, 2015 Cold Weather Cancels Chevy Super Series Dega 100 At Talladega Short Track CARTERSVILLE, GA – A weather forecast calling for freezing temperatures has forced cancelation of the 3rd Annual Dega 100 for the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL this Saturday night. Meteorologist James Spann of alabamawx.com said temperatures Saturday night could fall into the 20s with sustained 20 mile per hour north winds. “The weather is one thing we can’t control in this sport, and I am disappointed we won’t get to see the Dega 100 for the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series,” NeSmith Racing Founder and CEO Mike Vaughn said. “This is an event that I am personally promoting, and we’ve already lost some of our investment with the October rainout. The race was originally scheduled for October 3, but was rained out. Vaughn said that with so many big races scheduled within just a couple of hours of Talladega Short Track in the weeks after that, this Saturday night was the best date available to reschedule the Dega 100. Despite the cold weather forecast, Vaughn said many options were looked at, but none would fit. “With the upcoming forecast of freezing temperatures, I just couldn’t risk a $40,000 one-day purse on that.” Vaughn said. “I considered running a daytime show, but we just couldn’t properly promote that on such short notice. When you schedule a race in this part of the country in November and beyond, it’s always a gamble with the weather. You win some and you lose some, and this time we lost.” For more information about the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series visit the series web site at www.525superseries.com |
