GMPP CT525 Sealed Crate Engine Approved for SAS CompetitionWoodruff, South Carolina (February 25, 2010) - The officials of the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series announced today that the GM Performance Parts CT525 Sealed Crate Engine has been approved for Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series competition in 2010. An amendment to the 2010 series rulebook will be added outlining the specifications for the use of the GM Performance Parts CT525 Sealed Crate Engine. The specification set forth can be found under the Engines section. The following has been added and/or amended:
GM Performance Parts CT525 Crate Engines will be allowed in Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series competition. The engine must remain as a sealed unit per GMPP specifications. Any variation from this would disqualify the engine’s use. The GMPP CT525 engine will be allowed to have a 12-inch spoiler and compete at the 2150 “spec” weight. No other body modifications or changes will be allowed.
All engines EXCEPT the GM Performance Parts CT525 Sealed Crate Engine may only utilize and operate with a single magneto or single distributor ignition system. Coil-pack or distributor-less type ignition systems will only be allowed on the Sealed GMPP CT525 engine.
“We feel it is very important to offer racers as many options as possible to help them keep their racing program viable. The GM CT525 just gives the racer another affordable and competitive option. The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series offers several different engine and weight combinations to allow racers of all budgets to be able to compete. We will be very strict about the enforcement of the CT525 remaining sealed. There is zero tolerance in that regard. If the engine has even one seal that is improper or questionable the engine will not be allowed to compete - no exceptions.” said Kelley Carlton Southern All Star Racing Series Director of Competition.
These new rules will be effective beginning at the Series’ next scheduled event at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia on March 13, 2010 and will continue for this season and beyond. The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series reserves the right to repeal or amend any rules in the interest of fair competition at any time without notification.
