Saturday April 17th $4,000 SAS EAST opener set for Cherokee Speedway

The Southern AllStars EAST Series kicks off its 2010 season at Cherokee Speedway Saturday night, April 17th. Race fans welcome the touring series into town for the first big night race of the year. Scheduled for 40 laps and $4,000 to win - if the last few touring races are an indication of what’s to come the fans will not be disappointed with the action.

The 2010 Southern AllStars EAST Series will be under the direction of Gaffney, SC’s Timmy McAbee. “We are working with Jason and Ginger Owens from Southern Pride Raceway on a new scoring system this year that the EAST fans can take full advantage of. Anyone that has wifi on their cell phone, pda, smart phone, iPod touch, or laptop will have access to live timing and scoring starting from hot laps all the way into the main events. The new system keeps track of lap times and laps remaining, and will give our fans instant updated information at their fingertips.

Format, rules and purse remain the same with the 2010 EAST Series Points Series Championship paying $10,000 at the season’s end. Georgia’s 3 time and current EAST Champion Casey Roberts has dominated the series of late, and is expected to try for his 4th series title in a row. Rambo Franklin, Chris Madden, Freddy Smith, Colby Cannon, Johnny Pursely, Jeff Cooke, Monk Gulledge and many more will make Roberts’ run at a 4th EAST Series title a little more difficult.
