KOKO Radio Mothers Day Special on Opening Night at Central Missouri Speedway

By Alan Miller
(Warrensburg, MO) The Waterloo Storage Products Victory Lane remained closed last weekend due to the persistent rains, but CMS is planning to open the 2010 race season again this Saturday night, May 8 for KOKO Radio Mothers Day night at the races. The ’mighty’ modifieds, ULMA late models, street stocks and  b-modifieds are anxious to start the dirt track race season at Central Missouri Speedway. Fans are also eager to see the first drivers in victory lane take home their trophies and selected Waterloo Storage products. Pit gates open at 4:30, spectator gates open at 5, hot laps start at 7, and heat-race action begins at 7:30.

CMS will honor our fan-selected car show winners in each division with a presentation on the track at during the evening race events. Thank you to all the drivers for an impressive car show at the Warrensburg Lowes parking lot with each weekly CMS class represented. The race fans had a chance to check on the new cars along with talking to their favorite drivers.

Rain and stormy weather caused two cancellations for the opening races at Warrensburg last weekend along with virtually all of the local race tracks in Missouri. The hearty open wheel fans hungry for some racing action were planning to see some the nations best 360 sprint drivers maneuver their winged mounts on the fastest high banked clay oval in the Midwest. A superb field of drivers called in checking on track conditions last Friday including the American Sprint Car Series, ASCS and Weekend Outlaw Warriors, WOW 360 sprint drivers from as far as South Dakota, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and many Missouri and Kansas drivers as well. The 600cc Micro Sprint drivers, many from the central Missouri area were also ready for race at CMS for the first time in over 15 years.

Track owners, Earl and Susan Walls immediately met with ASCS officials on Friday and established a make-up date on Sunday evening, June 13. Open Wheel fans need to mark their calendars today for this special return event. The weekly show will continue on Saturday night, June 12 and CMS added this rare Sunday evening of racing with the ASCS and WOW 360 sprints at the high-banked track. ASCS officials were excited to find another date in their busy schedules to make their inaugural visit to Warrensburg. Stay tuned for additional details for this must see event at CMS.

The Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce plans to attend this weekend on KOKO race night with special discounted rates on tickets. Please contact the Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center or Susan Walls for additional details. Join us on Monday evenings at 5:30 on 1450 KOKO radio for the CMS weekly Track Talk Show with race results and driver interviews. CMS is located approximately 3.5 miles north of Warrensburg, or 12 miles south of the Interstate 70 exit for Higginsville on Highway 13.
