NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR MAY 10

CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leaders, Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL in the East Region and the defending and three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS posted wins in Week 6 action over the weekend.

Edge drove the Edge’s Gas Mastersbilt to his second victory of the season on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, and then followed that up with a third-place finish on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL. Edge now has 418 East Region points in a series-leading nine starts with two wins, and nine top five finishes.

Keeton took his second West Region win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Boland Performance Trak-Star, and followed that up with a second-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Keeton has 376 points in eight starts with two wins, six top five finishes, and eight top ten finishes.

Tod Darda of LaGrange, GA grabbed his second East Region win of the season on Saturday night at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA driving the Darda Tire GRT. Darda is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 279 points based on two wins, and six top five finishes in six starts.

Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL took his series-leading fourth East Region win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway driving the Bennett Logging Rocket. Stephens is third in the East Region standings with 273 points in six starts with four wins, and five top five finishes.

Ryan King of Anniston, AL is fourth in the East Region standings with 270 points based on two top fives, and six top tens in six starts in the True Bond Masonry TSR. Craig Scott of Newnan, GA in the Base Fuel GRT is fifth with 250 points after one win, three top fives, and five top ten finishes in seven starts.

Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL posted his second East Region win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and is sixth in the East Region point standings. Gauldin now has 242 points with two wins, four top fives, and five top fives in five starts driving the D&K Truck Service GRT.

Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA is seventh in the East Region standings with 238 points after two wins, and three top fives in three starts driving the Turner Excavating DWB. Tim Staples of Pell City, AL, and the 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Adam Martin of Talladega, AL are tied for the eighth spot with 236 points.

Staples has two East Region wins, four top five finishes, and five top ten finishes in five starts driving the Family Nissan Rocket, and Martin has five top five finishes in five starts driving the Martin Racing Barry Wright.

Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL drove the United Bank GRT to his second straight East Region win of the season on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL. Maher is tenth in the East Region standings with 234 points after two wins, and five top five finishes in five starts.

In other Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region action, Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN had a pair of feature races. Justin Summers of Greenback, TN drove the Summers Racing TNT to the win in the make-up feature race from May 1, and Weston Gantte of Dandridge, TN won the second race in the Gantte Appraisals Insurance Mastersbilt.

Cliff Williams of Star, MS used a pair of second-place finishes in the Ware Construction Trak-Star at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park of Friday night and Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS on Saturday night to move up to the second spot in the West Region standings. Williams has 297 points based on two wins and five top five finishes in five starts.

Justin McRee of Cuba, AL in the Century Dedicated, Inc. Trak-Star and Shay Knight of Ethelsville, MS in the Dunn’s Autos Mastersbilt are tied for the third spot in the West Region standings with 291 points apiece. McRee has three wins in four starts, and Knight has four top five finishes in five starts.

Jamey Smith of Purvis, MS holds down the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 254 points driving the 4th Street Tattoo GRT. Smith has two top fives, and five top tens in six starts. Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS is sixth in the West Region standings with 249 points based on two wins and three top fives driving the TJC Mortgage/Maximum Signs and Graphics Mastersbilt.

Jay Burchfield of Columbus, MS is seventh in the West Region standings with 245 points in the Burchfield’s Body Shop Mastersbilt. Burchfield has three top five finishes in three starts. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is eighth in the West Region standings with 243 points after three top five finishes in three starts in the Billy Riels Racing GRT.

Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS is ninth in the West Region standings with 242 points driving the Lawson Construction Rocket to one top five, and four top ten finishes in six starts. Charlie Henderson of Cottondale, AL rounds out the top ten in the West Region standings with 236 points after driving the Century Dedicated, Inc. Mastersbilt to two top fives and three top tens in three starts.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 6 action, Tyler Stevens of Searcy, AR drove the Searcy Auto Salvage Rocket to victory on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR. Mark Stevens of Tuscumbia, AL was the winner on Friday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL.

In Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action, Chad Washington of Greenville, MS topped a 19-car field at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the C&W Graphics GRT. Brooks Strength of Jackson, MS took the win at Jackson Motor Speedway driving the Duncan Motorsports Rocket.

Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS took his first win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the Bo Haarla Autoplex GRT. Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS drove the Stockstill Trucking Trak-Star to his second West Region win of the season on Saturday night at A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA.
