FASTRAK NORTHEAST & MOV RETURN TO TYLER COUNTY SATURDAY FOR MAKE-UP FEATURE; WEST VIRGINIA MOTOR WELCOMES FASTRAK SUNDAY FOR 1ST TIME IN INAUGURAL STAND-ALONE MOV EVENT

By Mike Leone
Pulaski, PA…The FASTRAK Northeast and Mid-Ohio Valley Late Model Touring Series will return to Tyler County Speedway this Saturday, May 15 to complete the rained out feature from two weeks ago before the Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series heads to West Virginia Motor Speedway on Sunday for the first ever stand-alone MOV event.

The $1,500 to-win feature field is set for Saturday at Tyler County; however, alternates will be used to fill the 24-car starting field if any qualified driver fails to return. While no new cars will be able to compete in the make-up, they’ll obviously be permitted to run Tyler’s regular $500 to-win, $100 to-start program. Any driver failing to return will receive their show-up points if they are members and $75 tow money.

Then on Sunday, racing returns to the spacious 5/8-mile West Virginia Motor Speedway for the first time in three years! Not only will the event mark the inaugural FASTRAK event at the Mineral Wells speed plant, but it’ll also coincide with the inaugural stand-alone Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series show. The 25-lap feature will pay $1,200 to-win, $150 to-start.

“We’re really looking forward to going to West Virginia Motor Speedway Sunday,” explained Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. “BDS Promotions was instrumental in bringing FASTRAK to Tyler County Speedway last year and now that they’ve taken over WVMS, we’re thrilled they signed on to sanction all their events under FASTRAK so racers can count these shows toward the National Weekly Series Championship. Not only that, but they’ve really stepped up their events with three stand-alone Mid-Ohio Touring Series events along with two $10,000 to-win National Events!”

“It was unfortunate the weather turned sour on May 1 at Tyler County,” stated Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. “We had such a great event on the April 17 opener with 53 cars, but the weather two weeks ago kept many racers from making the trip.. It’s never easy when you get into situations with rain during the program, but we felt the best option was to run the feature this Saturday as it was in a four-week gap between Northeast events and allowed our Northeast racers the option to run Sunday’s MOV show at West Virginia, which is only about an hour away.”

The Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series was created in order to allow West Virginia racers the ability to compete in a Touring Series close to home due to the rapid growth of FASTRAK in the state. Last year, Tyler County and Elkins came on board for FASTRAK Weekly Series action and were joined in 2010 by Beckley Motorsports Park and West Virginia Motor Speedway. These tracks all joined original West Virginia FASTRAK member track, Princeton Speedway. All of these tracks will host at least one Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series event in 2010 as drivers compete for the inaugural Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series Championship.

Max Blair, the 2008 Northeast Touring Series Champion, won the Northeast/Mid-Ohio Valley co-sanctioned event on April 17 and currently leads the Northeast points, while Kyle Thomas leads the MOV after his fourth place effort. Drivers must be members of each respective Touring Series to receive points.

There have been 35 Touring Series races contested with 16 different winners all-time in the Northeast Touring Series! Blair currently sits atop the all-time win list at six followed by Dick Barton, Bobby Powell, and John Lacki with four, Pegher, and Scott with three, Dellinger with two, and Todd Andrews, Kyle Drum, Frank Guidace, Lambert, Carl McKinney, Dennis Lunger, Jr., Tom Snyder, Jr., Chris Meadows, and Jim Frank with one victory.
