NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS PENTON AND PHENIX CITY EVENTS POSTPONED UNTIL JUNE 18-10CARTERSVILLE, GA – With an unfavorable weather forecast on the horizon, NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series officials have postponed the National Touring events scheduled for Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL and Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL until June 18 at Penton Raceway and June 19 at EAMS.
Both tracks will attempt to run regular weekly shows for this weekend that include the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models. Penton Raceway has scheduled a regular weekly show for this Friday night, and East Alabama Motor Speedway has scheduled a regular weekly show, including fireworks, for this Saturday night.
“With the weather forecast we’re looking at for this weekend, it would be hard to ask our teams that travel many hours to get to Penton Raceway and East Alabama Motor Speedway to make the trip without getting both shows in,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said. “They made the trip last weekend with all three scheduled shows getting rained out, and with the bad economy we are currently in, it would be a financial burden for them to make the trip again and not get both shows in due to the high probability of rain.”
The Friday night forecast at Penton Raceway calls for a 60 percent of rain, and the weather forecast on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway is calling for a 40 percent chance of rain.
The “Ride For Life” with the two-seat dirt late model to benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society has also been rescheduled at East Alabama Motor Speedway for Saturday night, June 19.
East Alabama Motor Speedway fans will get an opportunity to be a part of the high-speed action, as the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS “Ride For Life” two-seat dirt late model will be at EAMS on Saturday night, June 19 and fans will able to bid for a six-lap ride at race speed with their favorite driver with the proceeds benefiting the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Driver donating their time and talent to give six lucky fans the “Ride For Life” to benefit the American Cancer Society are William Thomas, Chase Edge, Richie Stephens, Larry Harrod, Dana Eiland and Terrance Nowell.
